The issue starts with Superman being blasted by what looks to be a Monitor, who is chipping away at Superman’s «cosmic armor». We follow Superman back in time to see Clark Kent sitting next to Lois Lane’s hospital bed saying that he’ll do anything to save her. The Monitor Zillo Valla shows up and stops time, saying that if Superman helps her, she will save Lois’ life. Superman follows her to her ship, where it is being attacked by another ship. Superman realizes that Zillo Valla has recruited Supermen of other universes to help in her mission: Ultraman from the Anti-Matter Earth, Captain Marvel of Earth-5, Overman of Earth-10, and Captain Allen Adam, the «Quantum Superman» (and a Doctor Manhattan look-alike), of Earth-4. The enemy ship takes damage from Ultraman and crash lands on Earth-51, part of the «graveyard universe», named that after the fight between Superman-Prime and Monarch destroyed most of the universe. The Monitor’s ship then lands in Limbo, where the Supermen are greeted by Merryman. Superman and Captain Marvel make their way to the Library of Limbo to see the one book that Merryman tells them is there.

When they get to the Library, they see that the book is a book with an infinite number of pages, all occupying the same space. Superman and Captain Marvel realize that if they can get the book to the ship, the ship will be able to process all of the infinite number of stories and would figure a way to fix itself. When they try to pick up the book, it starts to tell them a story about the Monitors.

The story says that there was one Monitor who was as large as the void itself, but a flaw was found in it. To contain this flaw, the Monitor creates the Multiverse to contain it, but it didn’t foresee the birth of complex life within the Multiverse. So the Monitor sends out a probe, possibly the original Monitor from Crisis on Infinite Earths, to investigate the abnormality within the flaw. It witnesses the events of the original Crisis and encounters the concept of «stories» and feels threatened by the existence of «stories», realizing that it has no defense against it. The Monitor seals the flaw, and all that seems to remain is a statue of Superman, dubbed «a vast, uncanny form». After eons of the form standing idle, the race of Monitors develops around it. They determine, after a few eons, that the form must be some sort of weapon that will help them against some ultimate enemy. Meanwhile, as blood falls from the sky, presumably from the Bleed, the Eater of Life, called Mandrakk, senses his freedom.

There is suddenly a burst of lightning as Superman and Marvel are blasted back from the book and Marvel is transformed back into Billy Baston, who can’t remember who he is or his magic word. Superman makes his way back to the ship, telling Captain Adam that he’ll need his help to get the book. Demanding answers, Superman rips off Zillo Valla’s door, only to see her sucking out the blood, vampire-style, of Overman and revealing that she is one of Mandrakk’s followers. Valla tells Superman that the destroyer from earlier is considered Mandrakk’s nanotechnology and the he has found them. Captain Adam tells Superman to come outside; the sky has just shattered. The sky has turned red, Ultraman is holding the infinite book and saying that evil wins, and a ship bearing, what looks like, Brainiac’s symbol appears in the sky.

The epic voyage beyond reality concludes in this heart-stopping finale as the multiverse-spanning quest for the elixir of the supergods reaches its end on the shores of a battlefield beyond imagination! A new color of Kryptonite is introduced as Superman's quest sends him after Metallo! But is Superman willing to ignore everything he stands for and rip out Metallo's heart? What strange places will Batman venture to in order to save the day? Zatanna guest stars in this tale constructed by Michael Green (Heroes) and Mike Johnson with art by emerging superstar Shane Davis (MYSTERY IN SPACE)!

Superman and Batman have tracked down Metallo. Batman is a little surprised at Superman's actions lately. He's going out of his way starting fights in order to get all the Kryptonite back. Batman thinks to himself that Superman is becoming more "ruthless" as he thrusts his hand through Metallo's back and pulls out the Kryptonite that powers him. He hands the piece over to Batman, who locks it up and gives Metallo a new "heart" that will hold him over until the S.C.U. arrive.

Back at the Bat Cave Batman is analyzing the radiation signatures of the different variations of Kryptonite. Superman just thinks how he'd love to be able to take a break from everything. Batman has located a small amount in the Andes and says they can get it tomorrow. Superman insists they do it now. Before they head out, the Bat Computer picks up a strange reading. He notes it doesn't match the readings of the other varietals of Kryptonite. It definitely is Kryptoninte. Looks like it could be a new kind. He tracks the location to the Oblivion Bar.

Batman and Superman both hate magic but have no choice to go to the bar. They talk to Detective Chimp and Phantom Stranger. Batman's scanner pinpoints the radiation signature to an old mystical artifact decorating the wall. With a little hellfire, the box is opened, revealing a silver moon-shaped crystal. Phantom Stranger tells them it's the Amulet of Mindfulness. He tells them it also has a strong enchantment that could be as dangerous as the Kryptonite at its core. When Superman sees it, he notes its beauty and removes his protective helmut. He seems to be under a trance already and just wants to touch it. There is a bright flash of light and he's knocked out on the floor.

At the JLA Watchtower, Zatanna, Batman, and John Stewart look over Superman. He appears to simply be sleeping. Zatanna expresses her concern after his exposure to the magics of the amulet. Batman tells her there's no such thing as magic, just things that need more studying. They begin arguing when Superman starts to wake up. As his vision clears, he sees animated versions of everyone. Superman seems in a daze and is extremely hungry. He zips into the kitchen and begins wolfing down cereal. Red Arrow asks Wally if he seems a little...Batman cuts him off saying he's "highly unstable." Finished with his box of cereal, Superman begins to smell brownies cooking in North Dakota.

As he is gone, Batman, Red Tornado, and Zatanna begin further discussion. When Zatanna sees a holographic display of what the amulet looked like, she immediately recognizes it. She starts to talk about its apparent origin but Batman doesn't want to hear it. She tells him that the legend says it was used to enslave the mind of an enemy. The only way to break the enchantment was use the other half of the amulet.

The other half appears to be on Dinosaur Island. Batman and Zatanna go there together. She tries asking how he can scientifically explain the dinosaurs being alive there. They head to a nearby village and Batman speaks to them (with the help of Zatanna's magic). He tells them what he's looking for. They are hesitant to tell him because of the dark magics involved. He tells them that he needs it to free the soul of his noble friend. They tell him that it is inside a nearby volcano. Zatanna cannot enter since she freely uses magic.

Back in the Watchtower, Superman becomes bored playing video games with Red Arrow. He asks Supergirl if there's anymore of the "Magic-K stuff." She reminds him how it's bad for them and that Batman had John send it into the sun.

In the volcano, Batman is finally able to get the other piece. As he comes into contact with it, he begins getting visions of temptation from the crystal. It shows him the desires of his heart that his mind can't confirm, including a vision of his parents and of him making out with Zatanna. He knows he could stay right there in those visions forever but then Clark will never be cured.

At the Watchtower, now they just have to wait for Superman to return to normal. Zatanna asks Batman what happened when he grabbed the crystal. He tells her he just had a few hallucinations produced from the natural gas fumes of the volcano. Zatanna doesn't get why it's so hard for him to accept magic when he's right there in a space station and is good friends with actual aliens. Batman says he doesn 't take comfort in escapist fantasy and Zatanna just tells him to "Ssik ym ttub."

Superman is back. He asks Batman what happened and what was the crystal. Batman tells him it depends on who you ask. Superman doesn't really care. He says he's been so focused lately that this gave him the break he needed. He now gets why everyone needs an escape. Everyone except for Batman...

Batman gets an explanation from Bekka why they cannot physically resist each other. She states it is because of her god power, the creation of desire both physical and emotional. She hadn't had such a strong connection with anyone since her husband Orion and it's because of Batman's self-denial of love that this power has overtaken them so strongly.

Meanwhile a mind-controlled Superman is sent to the source wall to retrieve High Father's staff. After doing so, Desaad makes him fly through a boom tube directly to the source, essentially ending his existence. At the source, he is greeted by memories of all of his friends and foes. There's a clever panel where someone holds up a picture saying it's the first time Superman was seen in Metropolis and the snapshot is actually Action Comics no. 1 cover.

The final chapter of the Metal Men's return! Will Superman and Batman be able to stop Brainiac with Magnus' robots on his side? And what does Bruce have hidden away that's so vital?

Will Magnus is able to track down his Metal Men. He is horrified to find the security guards dead. Hoping that they weren't responsible, he discovers that it was, in fact, Brainiac in an OMAC body.

At the hospital, Bruce is recovering. Clark asks him why did he hold onto the Brother Eye and OMAC technology. His answers is basically for the same reason he keeps a giant penny or old costumes in the Batcave. He says orphans are collectors, they have a hard time giving things up. Lucius arrives to tell Bruce that Magnus has gone missing. Bruce tells Lucius to get a prototype device from R & D and to give it to Clark. It is a device that will track the OMAC prototype.

Superman is able to easily track the prototype with the device. Inside, Magnus is still talking to Brainiac. It seems he wants to use the OMAC virus to infect everyone in order to control them. He needs to test his virus on a human test subject. He turns to Magnus' assistant, Helen, and Will insists Brainiac use him instead. Brainiac says he may need Magnus in the future. Superman arrives and gets their attention. He soon begins fighting the Metal Men.

Back at the hospital, Bruce barely manages to crawl out of bed. He tells himself that he will clean up this mess, even if it kills him.

The Metal Men do not want to hurt Superman but they have no choice. They are able to defeat him when Tin reveals that he has a piece of Kryptonite that Brainiac took from Metallo. Brainiac doesn't want Superman dead at this point. His plans are to eventually create a variant of the OMAC virus that could infect a Kryptonian. Superman refuses to give up fighting. Brainiac then asks who would like the honor of killing him. Magnus' assistant, just transformed into an OMAC herself, volunteers.

Outside, Batman arrives and talks to Will. They are discussing a way to shut down Brainiac. As Helen/OMAC fights Superman, Batman jumps in and tells the Metal Men to fight Brainiac's programming. He tells them to prove that they want acceptance in the world. Struggling, they managed to get their will back. They turn to Brainiac and begin fighting him. Will comes in with a very large gun. He shoots Helen in the neck with a dart that is to give her control over herself. Helen starts fighting Brainiac too. Finally, with the power of an OMAC and the Metal Men, Brainiac is defeated. Brainiac has managed to escape with his consciousness out of the OMAC body.

Superman melts down the OMAC exoskeletons. He asks Bruce if he has any other prototypes hidden anywhere. Bruce says no. Bruce says it's the best thing to do. Clark asks then why didn't he destroy it months ago. Bruce says it's because of the penny thing. What it comes down to, he wanted there to be something that could protect the world if the metahumans ever went out of control. Clark then asks why would he let him destroy it. Bruce asks Clark, when has he known him to just have one contingency plan.

It's all been leading up to this: Half of the DC Universe vs. Megistus! Batman and Jay Garrick stand against an android samurai with a bad attitude!

When Batman is investigating a murder scene, he is attacked by an android samurai. As he begins to fight off the android, Jay Garrick, the Flash arrives to disassmble the samuroid. It turned out the murder victim was a friend of Jay's.

It turns out the samuroids were built by T.O. Morrow and came under the possession of the Penguin after the Riddler paid off a debt to him. The Penguin wants to have Bruce Wayne killed since Wayne Enterprises won't sell the supplies their start up company needs to become the first in the global security business.

Jay follows Batman back to the cave to try to figure out who else could be in danger. Jay tries talking to Batman about the inevitable day that he'll have to "pass the baton" of Batman. Batman avoids the conversation. As they head upstairs, Jay takes a patrol of the estate and discovers more samuroids making their move towards the mansion.

Jay soon realizes that while the samuroids have more decorations on them, they are also faster. He also realizes that the ones he's fighting are simply a distraction as others have made their way to the mansion.

Inside Bruce finds three samuroids ready to attack him. He wonders why so many when one would be enough to take out Bruce Wayne. He then figures either he's earned the respect of someone or it's just someone that does things in excess...like the Penguin. Jay enters and asks why there isn't any security. Bruce tells him it wasn't activated in order to draw them in. Jay doesn't want to risk Bruce's life and says they need to get back downstairs. Unfortunately their path is blocked. So Jay vibrates them through the floor.

Since the samuroids are being run on a chemical artificial intelligence, Jay says the form of bacteria they have will be susceptible to antibiotics. He uses Batman's lab to create a gas that will neutralize them. Only the gas will be poisonous to them too. Batman puts on a gas mask and heads to cause a distraction while Jay readies the gas to run through the ventilation system.

They soon trace the 'droids to a factory and find T.O. Morrow there. Jay isn't too happy with the fact that Morrow murdered one of his friends. He has set demolitions all over the factory and threatens to leave Morrow inside. Morrow quickly says he'll confess to everything but begs that his "children" aren't hurt. Batman explains to Jay that Morrow develops an attachment to his creations (just as he did with Red Tornado). Before they can do anything, T.O. Morrow escapes into the timestream.

The factory explodes and the two need to depart to answer distress calls from the JLA and JSA. They leave with a great respect for each other.

Batman is fighting off the samuroids but the swarm of them is getting to be too much even for him.

Batman stands before Superman who is being controlled by an alien force. Ever prepared, Batman had some Kryptonite in his utility belt and makes a get-away. With Superman distracted, Batman saves Plastic Man from Luthor's torture. The Kryptonite distraction doesn't last long. Since they are in a LuthorCorp building, it was designed to withstand radiation. Superman is able to use part of the structure to enclose the Kryptonite. Batman knew it wouldn't last long. He next turns to the blackrock that he and Plastic Man took from the Fortress of Solitude. Now Batman has become one with the alien force. Supergirl's thoughts soon become conflicted and she leaves.

Superman soon finds Lois and tells her that he is done living a lie. He knows that he is not part of that world. The approaching alien presence has caused him to renounce everything he's ever known or cared for. Lois is able to say the words to get through to him. Suddenly Lobo shows up. Superman asks if he's felt the call of the alien force. Lobo mentions that they tried to control him but were unable to. He leaves as quickly as he arrived. Superman is content that he does not have to deal with him too. He flies off to try to save Batman. As Superman arrives at the Batcave, Batman begins to fight him.

Outside the Daily Planet, Martian Manhunter, Power Girl, Hawkgirl, Ultra, and other fly by under the influence of the alien force. Lois and Jimmy go outside to see several "alien" superheroes simply standing as if they're waiting for something. It begins to rain rocks. Jimmy picks one up as Lois tells him not to touch it. Now Jimmy apprears to be under the influence of the blackrock.

Across the world, the blackrocks fall affecting all those that come in contact with them. Batman continues to be infected, himself, fighting against Superman. Superman tries to get through to him as he takes the punches from Batman. He knows that the blackrock will release Batman if it believes it is in danger but it also knows that Superman will not kill Batman. Superman makes it clear that he does know how Batman's mind works and that he'd rather die than lose his soul. As he starts hitting back, he says he will do whatever it takes to bring him back or give him peace. The blackrock appears to believe him as it leaves Batman's body.

An infected Jimmy visits Lex Luthor. It seems the "others" want Lex but with a clear mind. They do not wish him to be infected. As he's about to be taken, he tries to bargain for his life by saying he knows how to deal with Superman, how his type think. He is soon surprised to see that Despero is also working with the others. He tells Lex that if he tells him how to kill Superman, they may let him live.

Superman and Batman regroup to prepare for a final battle. They pick up a nuclear device that Batman had liberated from the Joker to use as a last resort. Superman takes on all the infected heroes as Batman enters the others' ship. He runs into Jimmy but is still prepared to detonate the device if need be.

When Superman is faced with the others and Despero, he tries to talk things out again. He tells them that not all humans are evil and need to be wiped out. He reminds them that he was from another planet and taken in by humans. There was no personal gain for them. He's been embraced by the world as Superman. He has seen the nobility of the human spirit and wants to be part of that. He then tells them that Despero lied to them. Outraged, Despero tries to stop Superman from talking to the others. He asks Luthor how to destroy Superman. Before Lex can answer, Batman gives him a boot to the head.

The others are still unsure. The fact that they've been listening means that they are conflicted. Superman tells Batman that he has to believe in them and trust them the way he does with him. Hesitating for a second, Batman does. The conflict is over immediately. All those infected have been released. The aliens leave without a word.

Bruce Wayne now thinks over his ways. Superman saved the world because he believes in humans. Bruce realizes that he needs to try that himself. He tries to be a nicer person in his Bruce Wayne persona and reestablishes his friendship with Superman.

Wonder Woman and Power Girl fight side-by-side against a foe who may be more powerful than both of them combined!

After battling some mummies, Power Girl picks up Wonder Woman's lasso. When Diana asks Kara where she's going next, she replies, "To murder Superman in his Fortress..."

The issue opens up with Power Girl and Wonder Woman fighting their way through mummies, and Wonder Woman says she sees a solution on how to finish this. She asks Power Girl to clear a way for her towards altar, but Power Girl doesn’t see what she means. Wonder Woman says she’s not starting an argument, but she believes that in Man’s World, brute force doesn’t accomplish anything. She unhooks her lasso and wraps it around the altar, which holds a glowing orange ball and yanks it off with her lasso. An explosion happens and all the mummies fall to dust. Wonder Woman thanks Power Girl and Power Girl is just as confused as she asks what she did to defeat them. Wonder Woman explains that she noticed mummies nearest the altar fought with greater strength, so the orb gave them a life-force.

Power Girl says that wisdom wins this time, but brute strength will work next time. She picks up Wonder Woman’s lasso and gives it to Wonder Woman. At that point, Wonder Woman asks where Power Girl is off to, and while holding the lasso, Power Girl says, “To murder Superman in his fortress.” The both of them stand shocked and Power Girl is confused as to why she would say such a thing. Wonder Woman says that she was holding the lasso; that’s why she was telling the truth, but she also adds that she was surprised when she told the truth. Wonder Woman adds that Power Girl looked like she was hypnotised when she said that.

Power Girl shoots off to the sky and says she’s going to find who’s controlling her. Wonder Woman tells her to wait and wraps the lasso around Power Girl. She struggles to let go, and threatens to snap her lasso. Wonder Woman replies that it’s not just a “rope”, it’s a magic lasso and even Kryptonians are even vulnerable to magic. Power Girl replies that she is not from this universe, so it doesn’t affect her. She tells Wonder Woman that she respects her and will give her a chance to let her go. Wonder Woman replies that since Superman is in danger, it’s everyone business and adds that they’re alike. Power Girl replies that they’re nothing alike. Wonder Woman calms her down, and asks her to remember anything during the week. Power Girl thinks and remembers Thursday, which was just her usual day in the office. On Wednesday, she remembers the same thing and on Tuesday she didn’t even leave headquarters, but on Monday, it comes up blank. Wonder Woman tells her to calm down. Power Girl then remembers a stone; a yellowish stone in her fist. Power Girl then continues on about an alchemist, a man in the shadows, and she remembers the name “Megistus”. Wonder Woman then thinks up the library and thinks up the worst case scenario with “Not that…”

Wonder Woman goes on to explain the Royal Library of Alexandria and that it was the storehouse of all human knowledge. It contained thousands of scrolls and carvings recording the secrets of the Ages. Megistus, who was a powerful wizard and saw the library as only loot and so he plundered the library on the texts about alchemical science. Then he burned the library. They arrive outside the library as Power Girl carries a chest full of oils and Wonder Woman with a large jar. Wonder Woman mixes a few ingredients together. Wonder Woman explains that Amazonian faith has taught them many things – Power Girl interrupts and asks if it’s patience – but Wonder Woman says that it has taught them that the library still exists. Power Girl says that the library is burned down, but Wonder Woman replies that she was just recounting a legend. She continues to explain that the fire was just an illusion. He really didn’t destroy it, but stole it and put it in his own dimension. A portal opens from the ingredients Wonder Woman mixed together from before. Power Girl asks if they walk in, but Wonder Woman says that they “knock”. Together, they punch the portal and are transported to the library. Power Girl comments on the state of the library, and how much dusting it would need. Wonder Woman replies that it isn’t covered in dust, but it’s made of dust. She explains how ironic how this library is, as it holds all kinds of secrets but no one can read it, because if anyone does, this library would surely fall apart.

As Wonder Woman and Power Girl fall into their arguments again, Power Girl finds the man and shoots straight for him, almost destroying the library. Wonder Woman tells Power Girl to calm down because they don’t know what they’re up against. The strange man replies that Power Girl certainly knows who she’s up against, and introduces himself as Mr. Alchemy, heir to Megistus. He holds up the Philosopher’s Stone and explains to Power Girl that she should’ve listened to Wonder Woman and exercised patience. Now, he is the one ambushing her. He then casts a spell, “Stone to air, oxygen… to cyanide.” Wonder Woman is unprepared, but Power Girl explains that she doesn’t need to breathe. “Some just need to cave your face in!” she continues. She gets him to drop his weapon, and he complies, too easily, and throws it to Power Girl. Wonder Woman, struggling to breathe, tells her to drop the stone, but it’s too late. Mr. Alchemy sends his spirit into the stone, through to Power Girl. Power Girl, controlled by Mr. Alchemy then begins destroying the library and Wonder Woman is shocked.

Through Power Girl, Mr. Alchemy explains that with the Stone, he absorbed everything in the library without even touching it. Now that he can destroy it through Power Girl, he is the only one that knows the knowledge contained within the library. He asks Wonder Woman, “Comforting?” while she is buried under the debris. He continues to explain that she shouldn’t be concerned with the library of yesterday, and should be concerned with the man of tomorrow and continues to explain that it’s Superman she should be worried about, as his Fortress of Solitude is about to become a tomb of solid kryptonite. Power Girl punches Wonder Woman out, and carries Mr. Alchemy’s body out, off to kill Superman.

In the Arctic Circle, Superman comments on the great location of his Fortress of Solitude and perfect for a private meeting; he greets Power Girl. Power Girl says, “So many colours to choose from. Gold, green, white…” and Superman is confused by this. Power Girl then says, “But this is my favourite, “and brings out the alchemical one, the one that brings change, red kryptonite. Superman transform into a strange alien form. While Mr. Alchemy continues to rant on, Power Girl fights through, with “Kal?”, but he tells her to stay down and not to interfere. Mr. Alchemy explains that Wonder Woman is racing here to set this right. He continues to say that there’s no way she could sneak up on her, even with all her stealth and grace and says that she is no where in sight, when Wonder Woman flies through and hits Power Girl. Wonder Woman punches Power Girl, without knowing that Mr. Alchemy has gone out of Power Girl’s body and Power Girl tells her that it’s her again. Wonder Woman trusts her and she unhooks her lasso and holds the stone with her lasso. Wonder Woman tells her to take care of Superman. Wonder Woman then flies up in the sky and asks Athena to forgive for what she is about to do and throws the stone up into the sun. Wonder Woman returns and Power Girl tells her that Superman is going to be okay. She asks her Power Girl where she dropped Mr. Alchemy’s body, and Power Girl replies in London. She also asks if the body had reconnected with the stone. Wonder Woman ponders that if it did… because Wonder Woman had thrown it into the sun, and so he must’ve been destroyed as well.

Superman then asks humorously, how an attack, that left the Fortress of Solitude in debris, is considered a strategic attack? Wonder Woman explains that she was trying to scatter as much kryptonite as possible. Power Girl mentions that she rammed a plane into Superman’s house. Wonder Woman replies that it wasn’t the best, but it still worked. Power Girl and Wonder Woman fly off to allow Superman to rebuild his house.

Some days later, a man and a woman are reading a book and the man is reading about the incident that happened with the Philosopher’s Stone. The fact that it happened only days ago, but is seen in an ancient paper is strange. The man also comments on the second mention of “Megistus” and that “feels like the key”. The man asks another man who has just come in to investigate that and says that he will, but first, “Phoenix.” Another man then interrupts, and tells them that reports of an animal was seen downtown, and that all the animals there are extinct.

A virtually unstoppable force has driven the Doom Patrol to the brink of destruction and despair! And why is The Flash the only hero who can possibly stand between them and utter chaos?

At Challenger Mountain, the Challengers of the Unknown continue reading the Book of Fate in shifts. It seems they get sucked into reading it and lose track of time. They also become so entwined in it that they become bitter and snap at each other. As Red Ryan reads the book, he barks at Rocky that they have all the history and future to read and have to figure out what "Megistus" means as it keeps popping up. Rocky tells him to take a break so that he doesn't lose his mind and takes over. As June comes in and asks Rocky what just happened between them, Rocky snaps at June.

In Keystone City, Linda hands Wally the mail. He immediately tears up, at super speed, a letter from Dr. Niles Caulder. Linda mentions that he's been sending letters, e-mails, and leaving messages. He insists that he can help their kids with their unstable powers yet Wally keeps ignoring him. As they discuss this, Iris is listening from under the bed, her head phasing through the floor as Jai holds her up in the kitchen below. Walls is adamant that Caulder will not go anywhere near the kids. Iris pleads with Wally. As the leader of Doom Patrol, he's supposed to be one of the "good guys." Wally just doesn't like the guy. He gets the impression that he enjoys experimenting on people too much. A crash below scares the two of them into thinking something has happened to the kids. Iris lies that Jai was just being clumsy. Iris tells Wally that she's tired of always being on edge, waiting for another change in their kids' powers. Wally agrees to take them to see Caulder.

At the Doom Patrol castle, Caulder answers the door with very little warmth. The kids are a little scared. Elasti-Girl is with them and introduces herself to the kids with a big smile. As Caulder wishes to speak to Wally and Linda, Rita agrees to take the kids on a tour, including showing them the torture chamber. This excites the kids. Caulder tells Wally and Linda that what he wants to say to them concerns their future.

As the kids are getting their tour, they begin pulling their way to look at different things. Looking back, they notice that Rita is practically in the last room despite the fact that they are still holding her hands. Seeing the big smile on her face along with her arms stretched completely freaks them out and they run away. In a dark hallway, they hear some metallic footsteps. All they can see is the glow of red eyes as Robotman says, "Mmmm. Flesh." He was kidding but the kids run off anyways. Then they run into Larry Trainer, the fact that he looks like a mummy doesn't help the kids. Iris grabs Jai's hand and phases them into the floor. Larry sends Negative Man after them.

In Caulder's lab, he tells the Wests that he has built a machine for each of them to help stabilize their metabolisms. When Wally shows his doubts, Caulder says it's a pity that he doesn't trust him. As these words are spoken, a green gas begins to form in between the chambers of the machine. Instinctively, Wally yells to Linda to stand back from the trap. He spins his arms at super speed to dissipate the gas. It begins to talk to him and reveals itself to be Metamorpho. He's there visiting. As he begins to explain that he's there to help the Chief with his experiment, the screams for help from the kids can be heard.

Iris punches Negative Man, telling him to stay away from her as Jai holds Robotman pinned to the floor. Robotman says that it shouldn't be possible for her to actually punch Negative Man. Wally soon arrives and grabs them. He notices Iris hitting Negative Man. He mentions that she must have found the right vibrational frequency. Then a huge arm is placed in between them to stop the fighting.

The discussion continues over dinner about helping the kids. They are still a little weirded out by the Doom Patrol. When Rita reminds Larry to use manners when slirping through a straw, he reminds her that if he unwraps his bandages, he'll irradiate everyone. When Robotman is asked why he isn't eating, he mentions that me just absorbs a health shake the Chief made and removes his head plate to show his brain to them. This pushes them over the edge and they jump in their parents' arms. The two of them are outraged that they continue to scare their kids. They just want to get the test over with and leave.

Back in the lab, the kids are in their chambers. Metamorpho stands in between connected to the machinery, stabilizing it. The Chief explains that the machines will pull the kids apart and reassemble their biostructure almost instantaneously. Metamorpho is keeping them safe. The machine readings begin to redline, Metamorpho lets out a scream of agony, and Wally runs to the kids. He is bounced back and Metamorpho can be seen fading away. The kids are in a state of...decomposition. Wally demands to know what is going on. Rita mentions that something took Metamorpho away. Wally is going to grab the kids when the Chief tells them that if he doesn't stay back, his contact will kill them. They have not been reassembled yet and one touch will scatter their atoms. The only thing that can keep them together is the metal alloy from Robotman. The problem is, it can only hold one of the kids. Wally has to decide which one to save.

In that moment, Wally doesn't know what to say. Then he tells the Chief that there isn't a choice. Both kids must be saved. He tells them to bring out Negative Man. The Chief agrees that it could work. Robotman's armor is placed around Jai and Iris is wrapped with Negative Man. Wally tells Negative Man to remember what it felt like when he punched her and to try to tune into her frequency.

After throwing some switches and a bright flash of light, it seems to have worked. Jai appears as a little Robotman and Iris is tingling from being wrapped by Negative Man. Jai asks if they are going to have to stay like that but Wally doesn't know how to answer them. Linda yells at the Chief to answer them. He says that they are beginning to stabilize so it shouldn't be too much longer. This is good because the tickling feeling Iris is feeling is starting to bother her and Larry is starting to feel pain from being separated from Negative Man.

With the kids back to "normal," the Wests are prepared to leave. Caulder tells them they deserve an apology but it's too bad that Metamorpho isn't there to give it. Wally can't believe that Caulder is trying to put all the blame on Rex. He says it's not like them to bail in a moment of crisis. Caulder says he could find out more if he did more tests. Wally and Linda both quickly say no. Before they teleport out, Rita notices a word burned into a piece of metal with acid by Rex. It says, "Megistus." No one knows what it means. Caulder continues to try to tell them that the kids would benefit from being with them. He activates the teleporter before he can finish his sentence.

Back home, Wally and Linda are in their bedroom. The Justice Leauge has been alerted to search for Metamorpho. He then tells Linda that in that split second he had to choose between the kids, he did. In tears, he explains that in the one tiny moment, she didn't have the chance to really understand the question. That little moment was plenty of time for Wally to think and think about it. He is ashamed that he was able to make a choice before thinking about using Negative Man. Linda asks who he chose but he asks if it really matters.

At Challenger Mountain, Rocky is reading all about this, sweat pouring from his head. June comes in and says he's been reading for hours. She tells him he needs to step away since it is so draining. He pulls himself away but writes down the word "Megistus" on a post-it since it keeps popping up. As they walk away, a hand forms from the pages and reaches out.

As Hal Jordan and John Stewart fly through space, they split up so John can finish his patrol and Hal heads home. 145 miles above Earth, Hal finds a dead body. He immediately sends a message to Batman for his help. The victim appears to have died from a gunshot and his ring detects that no one has come or gone in that area of space since the victim died. Batman is able to correctly identify the victim's characteristic as he is currently looking at an identical body in the Batcave. It turns out that sixty-two similar corpses have been found at other places like Atlantis, the Daily Planet, and the Flash museum. It also seems that whatever happens to one body has similar effects on the others. Batman recognizes the casino logo on the victim's shirt and decides that he and Hal are taking a roadtrip to Vegas. Just then they are attacked by an alien being. As the beast is eventually defeated, two spectators appear to have wagered on who would be the one to defeat the beast.

As Bruce Wayne and Hal Jordan enter the casino, Bruce uses his charm and reputation to get information. They discover that the casino has recently had a new owner and that a murdered man was just found outside the front door.

Bruce and Hal make their way to the owner's office. Bruce discovers that the owner is Roulette, head of an underworld gambling syndicate. They change into their costumes as Roulette is trying to torch a book that won't burn. She is hysterical and determine to destroy it. She tells them that her boyfriend was trying to warn them. Aliens then arrive to take the book. They manage to save Roulette but the aliens also took the book. Roulette tells Batman that she knew they would lose to the Venturans. It was foretold in the book. The book turns out to be the Book of Destiny and that it contains ultimate knowledge.

As Hal Jordan and Supergirl fly through space, Kara is seemingly flirting with him. He keeps reminding himself, she's only seventeen. They are searching for the Book of Destiny that has been stolen. They arrive on the planet Ventura (which is basically one giant casino) as Batman follows a lead on Earth. It seems the planet has strict security measures and also don't like Green Lanterns' presence. Hal has to go undercover and wants Supergirl as backup.

On Earth, Batman and Blue Beetle are tracking down an alien assassin.

The thief will not have much time to use the Book before he is detected by security on Ventura. Supergirl continues with her flirting until Hal has to finally put his foot down. Supergirl appears hurt and takes off. Suddenly in the combat arena, she appears dressed as a little girl and is the challenger in the next fight. As Supergirl fights a huge creature with no problem, Hal checks out the wager data on that match. There is only one gambler betting on Supergirl because he "knows" the outcome. By the time Hal gets there, the gambler is already gone. Trying to make a get-away, he checks the book and sees himself get struck from behind. Another gambler liberates the book from him after he overheard Hal and Supergirl discussing it. It turns out this alien is in the Rannian Rebel Underground trying to get funds for the Rann-Thanagar War. He prepares to zeta-beam out of there so Hal and Supergirl have to take their fight to Rann. As Hal is "holding" the rebel, they beam out of there before Supergirl can grab hold of him. She is left there with no idea how to get to Rann or Earth. All the betters in the arena see her "S" logo and yell that she was a ringer in the fight. Things do not look too good for her.

It's Batman and Blue Beetle versus the Fatal Five in the team-up book to end all team-up books! Who's brought these Legion villains into the fray? The Lord of Time, who has pulled in assassins and villains from throughout the history of the DCU!

In the desert outside of El Paso, Texas, Batman and Blue Beetle are suddenly hit with a drastic change in weather. The temperature drops to twenty-five degrees fahrenheit below zero with extreme snow and wind. Blue Beetle blames himself for getting them into this situation. He begins arguing with his armor to get both of them out of there. With visibility reduced to nothing, Blue Beetle quickly loses site of Batman. With the wind, he can't even tell which way is up or down. Feeling the ground beneath him, he fires a big blast straight down, causing an avalanche. Flying around, he calls out to Batman. One of Batman's fists breaks the surface of the snow. As Beetle begins to dig him out, he asks Batman to "crack out the Bat-snowblower." The snow begins to melt and Batman is standing free. He didn't actually have a Bat-snowblower but a short-duration infrared ordnance from going against Mr. Freeze so often.

Blue Beetle warms up Batman with his armor and continues to apologize. Batman says it's okay. They were lucky that Batman was targeted and not Blue Beetle. The weapon that was fired at Batman alters probability to maximize the odds of a kill. Batman says he survived because it didn't take Blue Beetle's armor into account.

Blue Beetle tries tracking the energy signature of the weapon but his armor's tracking seems to be out of whack. He apologizes again saying he's not making excuses. Batman tells him to relax. Beetle is confused that Batman is being so nice to him.

Soon Batman tracks down an arms dealer that sells exotic weapons (that moved away from Gotham). As Batman tries to strong-arm him, Blue Beetle watches and comments to himself that he thinks he just peed himself seeing Batman in action. He then gets an idea as to where the weapon could be just as Batman threatens to start breaking some bones.

On Ventura, Supergirl is trying to get a ride to Raan. After Hal left, she has no idea how to get there or back to Earth. No one wants to help after she caused them all to lose money when they bet agaisnt her when she fought in the arena. When she mentions she can turn coal into diamonds, an alien says he knows of a "navigator" that can take her.

Lobo is seen bound in front of a firing squad. They shoot at him only to find that he is no longer there. Supergirl snatch him away at high speed. Lobo has no idea who she is until she flashes her S-symbol at him. It seems it is enough to buy her some credit for his help.

Outside of La Dama's estate, the local crimelord, Blue Beetle and Batman look in. Blue Beetle mentions that she makes it a point not to become too big. She doesn't want "unwanted attention." Blue Beetle has had some run-ins with her and knows that she's gathered some magical artifacts. Inside, Neferto is inside trying to sell the Haruspex weapon to her. Suddenly the clock and television start acting up. A doorway opens up and the Lord of Time arrives. He claims to have traveled hundreds of centuries to claim the Haruspex as his own.

Despite being surrounded by a roomful of La Dama's armed guards, the Lord of Time is not concerned. He has brought along the Fatal Five, the scourge of the 31st Century. The Fatal Five consists of Mano, Persuader, Emerald Empress, Tharok, and Validus. Neferto is aiming the Haruspex when he is hit in the head by a Batarang. Blue Beetle enters claiming that Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern are behind them so they should all just give up.

Batman runs outside after La Dama and Neferto. The Lord of Time manages to get the Haruspex as Batman begins fighting him. La Dama targets Batman but he advises her against it. Killing him would make her known to the world and she wouldn't be able to keep her quiet crimelord ways.

The Fatal Five bring their fight outside. La Dama hits Tharok with the Haruspex and he is encased in some sort of insulation material. The Lord of Time is unconscious and the Fatal Five are stranded. The cyborg Tharok gets the Haruspex in sight and heads towards La Dama and Neferto. She targets him with the Haruspex when Batman jumps in. With both targeted, there is a big flash as the weapon is discharged. Blue Beetle gets to his feet looking for Batman. He is astonished when he sees a half Batman, half Tharok merged into one.

A couple of easy riders head out on the highway…get ready for the most unlikely team of all: Supergirl and Lobo!

Batman and Tharok, now merged into one being thanks to the Haruspex, stand motionless over La Dama as they adjust to their new circumstance. The Tharok side attacks her but Batman resists. Blue Beetle tries to restrain them and has his armor runs scans on them. The armor tells him that both beings are fully there even though only half of each is seen. Before he can learn more, the Fatal Five attack from behind. They demand the Haruspex weapon be turned over to them so they can get it to the Lord of Time. They begin to attack when the weapon isn’t handed over immediately, but, to everyone’s surprise, Validus attacks his own team. Batman explains to Blue Beetle that while he controls Tharok, he controls Validus. Tharok resists Batman’s control and while they have their mental struggle, Blue Beetle takes the Haruspex and tries to look for an “undo” button. Tharok/Batman comes from behind him and tries to take the weapon. Tharok is in control. Blue Beetle does the only thing he can think of and fires the weapon at them again, resulting in Tharok/Batman and the Haruspex weapon to disappear. Over his shoulder, La Dama congratulates him on killing Batman.

Elsewhere in space, Supergirl and Lobo are having an arm wrestling match in the middle of a bar. Lobo wins and decides to buy drinks for everyone in the room. Supergirl tells him that it’s time to leave but he won’t listen. When one of the patrons takes him up on his offer for drinks, she punches him through a wall, discouraging anyone else from taking up her time. As she and Lobo walk out of the bar they find themselves transported to what looks like a hedge maze. Supergirl tries to get out but when she goes anywhere other than the path she gets transported right back. Lobo takes the lead and uses his tracking abilities to find a way out. When they make it out they are greeted by a man in purple robes. He says he’s the guardian of the Book of Destiny and he needs their help. He tells him the tale of what happened to the Book and they listen. He had once thought that the book contained all that had been or ever would be but one day he found a page that had four men who were not visible to him. Further study showed him that these men who “were not there” were changing things, rewriting reality, all throughout the book. He decided that these men who had caused the damage were the only ones who could fix it so he tried to get it to them. Without the Book the guardian seems to no longer be completely “there”, so he doesn’t remember how the men were supposed to fix it. He does remember though that him passing on the Book gave the Lords of Luck a chance to take it. Supergirl tells him that they did get the book and the guardian tells her that not only must she get it back, she must deliver it to the four men he was talking about. The bad news is, he doesn’t know who they are. The good news is, Batman and Hal Jordan do (or will).

Supergirl gets Lobo to give he a ride to where they need to go and while they ride, she tries to convince him that she should read it. He says she shouldn’t but she still wants to. When they get to Rann and Lobo kicks her off his bike, she tells him that she let him with the arm wrestling match. He flies off frustrated and unbelieving and when Supergirl flies into Rann airspace, she’s shot at. She looks around to see why and finds Adam Strange and Hal Jordan fighting off hundreds of Thanagarians.

In an unknown place, Batman/Tharox awakens. The bodies of the Fatal Five are around them and they seem to be in a room with some pretty advanced technology. Before they can really do anything, the Legion of Superheroes appears and tells them they’re on lockdown.

All roads lead back to Earth for the final showdown over the Book of Destiny, whose possessor will have the knowledge of all that has ever been or will be! Every guest star involved will have the opportunity to glance inside the book, including Batman, Green Lantern, Supergirl, Blue Beetle, Lobo and more!

This issue takes place before the JLA/JSA Lightning Saga.

As he begins to put two and two together - being the Blue Beetle may not be as simple as he thought, he's returned from his Infinate Crisis and is back home. There's just one problem...he's been gone a whole year.

Part 3 of "Secret Origin" explores the beginnings of Earth's Green Lantern — Hal Jordan! Hal meets the Green Lantern who will teach him everything he knows: Sinestro! But Sinestro has another mission on this primitive mudball called planet Earth…a mission not even the Guardians of the Universe are aware of.

• Hal is amazed at what he was able to do with the power ring from the last issue but at the moment the only thing he's really paying any attention to is Carol Ferris. We see that Tom is amazed right away at what Hal as Green Lantern can do, but not everyone is as impressed. Hector Hammond seems jealous at first by the appearance of the new superhero but then is interested in the fact that Hal seems new to his powers and offers Hal the opportunity to assist him in helping him understand what he is capable of. Hal turns down the offer. Carol seems very impressed with Green Lantern and tells of Hector Hammond, saying that he's a employee and she doesn't date employees. Hector reminds Carol that he is a consultant to Ferris Aircraft and that she can't speak to him that way but a phone call takes him away from the confrontation.

• Hal goes back to the crash site and tries to figure out who the mysterious alien was. He surmises that he must have been some kind of solider or officer and makes a burial for the fallen Abin Sur feeling that it was the right thing to do Hal then picks up the green lantern in the ship. The ring explains to Hal that the lantern is his power battery and suddenly, the ring becomes locked onto the battery which freaks out Hal just a bit. Then the ring tell Hal that his training is about to begin and Hal is transported to OA.

• Hal arrives at OA and things don't start off so smoothly for Hal. He is almost run over by another Green Lantern flying in his direction who has less than nice words for the newcomer. As Hal tries to figure out where he is, a fin-headed alien looks at Hal and senses something is wrong with his friend Abin Sur as he can tell the Earth man has Abin's ring. The ring then brings Hal to a group of rookie and plops him in the mud. Someone tells Jordan that he needs to treat his battery better and ribs him a bit on his landing. Welcome to ringslinging 101. Meet your instructor, Kilowog. Hal and Kilowog don't start things off on the right foot when Kilowog pushes Hal back in line with the rest of the rookies, Hal fights back and makes a giant green boxing glove and take Kilowog out with one punch. When Ch'ip tell Hal he shouldn't have done that and Hal asks why, Kilowog says because he's been waiting all day to find someone to make an example out of.

• The army is investigating two crashed landings that they had been monitoring. Major Stone is leading one of the search parties and Hector Hammond is along to help identify what they find. What they find is a crashed space ship. However when ground troops go in to investigate, the newly freed Atrocitus appears from underwater, killing the soliders and claiming that death will come to all that the Green Lantern Corps rule over. He swears by the survivors of sector 666.

• Back on OA, Kilowog is showing the rookies about how to make a force bubble by "volunteering" Hal to be inside the bubble. Ke'Haan is giving praise to a rookie named Ahtier, but wonders why he is so quiet. The rookie responds by saying that he fears his duty and that Green Lanterns are supposed to shine bright but in the end, their lights burn out quicklyand Ke'Haan responds by saying that if the human can make it, so can he. Hal wills himself out of Kilowog's bubble which seems to impress Kilowog a bit but then Kilowog throws a yellow disc at Hal and it goes right through Hal's emerald hand and smashes him in the face. The other rookies wonder why Hal tried to use his ring against the disc as everyone knows that the ring does not work against anything yellow. When Hal questions why the ring wouldn't work against anything yellow, Kilowog and him have some words before being interrupted by Tomar Re.

• Tomar Re introduces himself to Hal and tells him that he is the Green Lantern of sector 2815 which more or less makes them neighbors. Tomar asks Hal how Abin died and he tells Tomar that Abin died when his ship crashed in the desert, which puzzles Tomar as he explains that Abin didn't need a ship. Hal asks Tomar why then Abin Sur would use one and he explains to Hal that Abin Sur allowed himself to feel fear. He also goes on by telling Hal that Abin Sur disobeyed the Guardians territorial edict by pursuing an enemy outside of his sector. Abin Sur was after a group called the Empire of Tears. After his encounter, Abin Sur became paranoid. He became obsessed with Doomsday Prohechies and Prisms. Fractured light and splintered souls. Nothing Abin said seemed to make sense which Hal replies that nothing makes sense to him now. Tomar Re shows Hal the great book of OA and how the tales of the Green Lanterns are recorded there and that one day so will his. Tomar then tells Hal that if you ever need help, ask for it.

• Hal continues on with his training alongside the other rookies as Kilowog and Ke'Haan take them through the steps of becoming a full-fledged Green Lantern. They continued to practice until the day came that Ke'Haan and Kilowog felt that their training was over. All of them had done well and Hal and the rest of the rookies earned their Green Lantern badge. All of the rookies powered their rings with the main power battery as they recited the Green Lantern oath and as Hal did it, his Green Lantern badge appeared on his chest. He had become a full-fledged Green Lantern.

• Elswhere, a Green Lantern is asking one of the Guardians why he was not told of Abin Sur's fate and the Guardian replied that the Green Lantern was busy and they did not want to distract him from his duties. When the Green Lantern said when has his he ever been distracted, the Guardian commented that his record was far superior to other Green Lanterns and that he was considered the greatest by many. The Guardian tells the Green Lantern that his new assignment is to go to Earth and contact Abin Sur's replacement and investigate the circumstance of his death. He also tells the Green Lantern to call him Ganthet. The Green Lantern is surprised as he thought the Guardians didn't have names. Ganthet tells the Green Lantern that it is so that he will know him. The Green Lantern says that it's against the terriotorial edict for Green Lanterns to team up but Ganthet tells him to break that edict for his mentor and friend. The Green Lantern agrees and Sinestro is on his way to Earth. See ya next month when Hal Jordan meets Sinestro for the first time.

Once coming across Abin Sur's space ship, they--the army--take it into a hangar and begin attempting to disassemble it. Hector Hammond is notified that they've just been able to disassemble the thrusters and are now near the fuel chamber. Hector, eager to get his hands on it, rushes in to take a look--without wearing his radiation shielded helmet. He begins to open the fuel chamber--believing that it's empty--and causes a small explosion which exposes himself to a high level of radiation. While getting medical treatment, Hector realizes that he can do things with his mind. Being full of rage, Hector takes it out on everyone that's around him and kills them all.

Meanwhile back on Oa, Hal has just graduated from Green Lantern boot camp and was shipped out. Back on the airfield Tom recognized Hal as the Green Lantern and confronts him about it. Hal admits it to Tom in a round-about way. Tom then notifies Hal that everyone has just quit after Carol Ferris took over the reigns from Mr. Arden.

Things are going bad for Carol. She is trying to recruit any and all pilots for her airfield but no one is taking her offer no matter what it is. Just then, Hal walks into her office and tells her that he is also calling it quits. She instead takes an enormous risk and offers him a job as a pilot. Hal is hesitant to take the job because now he does not need an airplane to fly.

Atrocitus, still on the run from Abin Sur's airship, comes across a campsite and kills it occupants. He begins to perform a ritual over the campfire in search for "the being that will birth the black".

Hal, now back in the pilot's seat at Ferris airfield takes his first flight. He is supposed to be running a test flight under strict conditions. Just as Carol says that this is Hal's last chance he messes it up. Sinestro, comes to Earth to investigate Abin's successor and notices that Hal is flying without his ring. Therefore, he stops directly in front of Hal's aircraft and it blows up in mid-air. Hal, realizing what has just happened, tries to use his ring's power to reconstruct the aircraft. This whole time he's getting a lecture from Sinestro about the rules of not questioning a superior veteran or officer, why he can fraternize in another sector from his own, etc.

Sinestro then reassembles the aircraft for Hal and Hal is allowed to land the aircraft safely on the ground. As soon as he hops out of the cockpit he gets an earful from Carol. They, Hal and Carol, at that moment hit the deck with immense pain in their heads. Hector Hammond has just emerged from the hangar and now realizes that he can also read minds...

"GREEN LANTERN: SECRET ORIGIN" Part 5 of 6! Hal and Sinestro continue to battle Abin Sur's killer, but will these two Green Lanterns become enemies before they become friends? And what strange secrets within Abin Sur's power ring concern the massacre of Space Sector 666?

In Hand Mortuary, in the basement of his home, William is seen gazing at corpses while there to be embalmed. He is caught by his mother and questioned as to his Christianity.

Back on the airfield, Hector continues to read their minds and now focuses on Hal's. He learns that Hal is the Green Lantern and about his training in the Green Lantern Corps. Hector becomes jealous of Hal and his potential powers and turns hostile. Hal, with all of his will power begins to fight back as the Green Lantern. Being a rookie he struggles getting his ring to do what he wants. Sinestro to the rescue! He comes and subdues Hector and swoops off with Hal on another assignment.

On their way out Sinestro chastises Hal for flying without his ring and for not being prepared for the scuffle with Hector. Sinestro admits that he was suspended himself when he was a rookie for accusing the Guardians of the Universe for putting the yellow impurities in the universe.

This other assignment turns out ot be visiting Abin Sur's shallow grave in New Mexico. While near the gravesite Hal's ring is triggered and Abin Sur's message--which was recorded on the ring before he died--begins to play for Sinestro.

Abin leaves a message for Sinestro telling him about the massacre of sector 666 and the five remaining survivors, "the Five Inversions". He said they were a "terrorist cell bent on the destruction of the Guardians of the Universe and chief among them was Atrocitus". He goes on to mention the prophecy of the "darkness" and that it could be found on Earth.

Sinestro surmises that Abin mostly perished--not from the crash of the space ship--but from an attack by Atrocitus. He figures out that Atrocitus must have survived the crash and is now at large on Earth searching for this "darkness".

Back at the funeral home, William is ushering a hosted funeral for a family where he is greeted by Atrocitus. Just then both Hal and Sinestro swoop down and attempt to arrest Atrocitus.

To both of their surprises, Atrocitus has in his possession a Cosmic Divining Rod...

The penultimate chapter of "Secret Origin"! Hal Jordan and Sinestro face off against Abin Sur's killer - Atrocitus! But what dark secret has Atrocitus uncovered about the impending "Blackest Night?" And what revelation will forever change the relationship between Hal and Carol Ferris?

Sinestro and Hal have been summoned back to Oa. The Guardians of the Universe want them to answer for supposedly breaking the territorial edict. Therefore, their rings autopilot them back to Oa to face the Guardians.

The Guardians are upset at Sinestro for breaking this edict a second time. Sinestro claims that he was assisting a rookie in the apprehension of Atroticus of the Five Inversions. The Guardians do not take this to heart and state that this isn't an excuse to break the edict. The Guardians want Atroticus to be returned to Ysmault where he will finish out the remainder of his sentence, an eternity of imprisonment.

Hal begins to speak his mind and question the rules set forth by the Guardians. He questions why the Green Lantern Corps members must be separated, why the Manhunters went rogue, and if the Guardians even felt fear. This last question enrages the Guardians and Sinestro abruptly puts an end to Hals questioning. He's afraid that he may have pushed them a little too far.

The Guardians tell Hal that he was out of line to mention that and threaten him to the verge of expulsion.

Sinestro retorts the Guardians and claims that in some circumstances it is necessary for fellow Corps members to travel to other sectors of the galaxy to assist them, help them grow, and to make sure that they are "in check". All of these things can ensure that the Massacre of Sector 666 does not ever happen again.

The Guardians leave Hal with his ring and in the care of Sinestro as they contemplate their decision. Sinestro then begins to gather his things in preparation for transporting Atroticus to Ysmault. Sinestro tells Hal that they will reconvene in another month so he can "evaluate Hals' progress".

Back in Ferris airfield, Tom and Hal are discussing which aircraft Hal is going to be taking up that day. Tom, in a matter of three weeks, has repaired the old plane which was off to the junk yard. This aircraft is special to Hal because it is one that his father had taken him up in as a child.

At Edwards Air Force base, Hector Hammond is contained inside a small chamber in Hangar 44. He wants out and doesn't appreciate being "poked and prodded" by their scientists. Hector is jealous of Hal and Green Lantern's lifestyle.

In Coast City Hospital, William Hand is seen browsing bodies in the morgue by the security guard. William kills the guard with his Cosmic Divining Rod.

Sinestro, finally delivers Atrocticus to Ysmault. As he's about to leave the Five Inversions begin to taunt him about witnessing Abin Sur's death. They also state a prophesy that Sinestro's homeworld will decend into civil unrest with riots, and a 'bloody coup'. Krougar will lead the unrest. Sinestro states his doubt and that they cannot instill fear in him. Atrocticus threatens that one day Sinestro will feel his rage and will burn with it.

The Book starts with Black Adam dreaming that friend and foe begin to cut off his body parts. Dr. Sivana, Shazam, Osiris, and Isis all take a leg or an arm. It then pans to a mixture of the Justice league and Justice Society as well as the mention holding up his body parts and saying “it’s done”

The setting changes from the dream to the bloody outside. Black Adam it laying with a wound on his side and bleeding out. A couple of men standing with guns trained on him. The waking Adam whispers the magic word. “Isis” The two take off running and of course discharging their weapons into Black Adam. Unaffected by the bullets Black Adam speeds forward and cuts the two men in half before leaving the area. In a far off room it shows that Atom Smasher has his wife’s finger and her wedding ring.

Black Adam lands in Taholah Washington at an animal hospital. There he is nursed back to health. During the black out of the operation. They go to Felix Faust who speaks of Black Adam changing things with what he is doing speaking to the body of Isis. They also show a military man who is in charge of the people hunting Black Adam, they are not happy at the lack of success that has befallen them. At the hospital, the female doctor explains that she would not risk the life of her family and friends or town knowing the history of Black Adam. They then ask him to leave given him some clothes and sending him off. As Adam searches for the magic word while leaving in his rear view mirror he sends the group attacking the hospital.

Black Adam changes again and holds up two of the attackers breaking their spine. Another one has his arm ripped off and himself shoved into the roof. Taking the last two up into the air he demands that they tell him what is going on. They refuse and he calls magic lightning down to kill one of them. The other being is afraid amd tells him of the use of uranium bullets so that the organization can track him. Black Adam then ascends upwards toward space.

At the hospital the two doctors that had been saved by Black Adam tell the Justice League that he saved them. In the Brownstone headquarters of the Justice Society Mister Terrific watches a monitor as Black Adam goes up toward the satellite. As Black Adam goes up the man still with him turns to ice and shatters as Black Adam talks to the Justice Society of America. “Consider your tracking abilities of me to be temporarily suspended. Black Adam out.” This is the end of Book 4 of 6.

Black Adam comes closer to retrieving one of the final pieces of Isis's magical amulet, but even he can't contemplate how far a secret group would go to bring his bloodshed to an end.

In this story, the saga of the mysterious Alpha Lanterns spills into Green Lantern Corps! Chosen for the elite Alpha Lanterns, Boodikka continues her absolute pursuit of justice and order. When she is assigned by the Guardians to investigate the negligence of her sector replacement, Boodikka is shocked to uncover startling secrets about her own life from before she joined the Corps! Writer Sterling Gates (TALES OF THE SINESTRO CORPS: SUPERMAN PRIME, GREEN LANTERN/SINESTRO CORPS SECRET FILES) explores the life of Alpha Lantern Boodikka in part one of "The Curse of the Alpha Lantern."

We see newly chosen Alpha Lantern Boodikka assisting Green Lantern Harvid in his sector against a group of Manhunters. The Manhunters are about to deplete Harvid's ring when putting the veteran Lantern in serious peril. When the Manhunters detect something different in Boodikka they attack her seeing her as a very high degree threat. Boodikka initiates a counter measure unique to the Alpha Lanterns. Boodikka uses her Alpha Lantern powers to override the Manhunters programming, deleting their memory banks and shutting down their primary programming. By doing this, Boodikka takes out the whole platoon of Manhunters.

• Boodikka now reprimands Green Lantern Harvid for not doing what he was supposed to do under the new rules of the Green Lanterns and take out the Sinestro Corps member who was in charge of the Manhunter platoon. The Sinestro Corps member in question happened was Haasp the hunter who happens to also be the brother of Lantern Harvid: a fact that Harvid tries to explain to Boodikka which is when Boodikka cuts him off explaining that the Green Lantern Corps does not tolerate ineptitude and that if Boodikka is called to deal with Harvid again, he will face suspension. She also mentions that if he lets a Sinestro Corps member go free again regardless of blood ties he will face permanent expulsion from the Green Lantern Corps and will be decommissioned.

• Back on OA Graf Toren and Tomar Tu discuss the newly changed Boodikka. While Tomar recounts how much Boodikka has changed on an emotional and physical level, she was still one that Graf Toren disagrees with. Graf recounts how even though Boodikka had a short temper, Kilowog considered her top of her class and the best in hand-to-hand combat. He also recounted what Boodikka lost at the hands of Parallax and how along with the other Lost Lanterns, they became prisoners of the Manhunters. It was the years that consumed Boodikka in anger.

• Graf and Tomar continue their discussion about Boodikka and the wisdom of the Alpha Lanterns. Graf worries about the members who were chosen to become Alpha Lanterns who no longer seem to have the emotions that made them who they are. Graf is about to say that he hopes he doesn't have to force Boodikka to do something when she interrupts them by asking them where they wanted to take her and how they would force an Alpha Lantern to go there.

• Both Graf and Tomar try to plead with Boodikka to go to the Guardians and speak on behalf of Laira. Boodikka tells them that Laira must pay for her disgraceful actions and that it was their testimony that caused Laira's situation. Tomar pleads with Boodikka that they have lost two members of the Lost Lanterns already and they don't want to lose two more. Graf presses on about how it seemed she lost all ability to feel emotion and how she was the most passionate of all of the Lost Lanterns and asks if her fire is truly gone. She asks if her anger with Hal is no longer there. He is about to ask if she still begrudges her blood-sisters on her home world for turning their backs on her but before he can finish, Boodikka tells Graf that she will no longer be interrogated by him and leaves. Tomar wonders who Graf was talking about and Graf replies that while the Guardian’s promises of justice appeared to have taken Boodikka from the Lost Lanterns, they were not the first group to lose her.

• Boodikka on her way to the Guardians recounts a memory from her past. Boodikka and her blood-sisters were bounty hunters. In this particular hunt, they were after a being named Kronin and his pirates. Together, the Blood-Sisters of Bellatrix or the Bellatrix Bombers, as they are known, were able to take down Kronin, who was a most uncatchable bounty and because of Bellatrix Bombers's accomplishment, their bounty request had tripled. Zale, one of the Bellatrix Bombers and Boodikka's flesh and blood sister, looks for her outside where Boodikka tells her sister what the do is all fine and good, but she wonders if she should be doing more.

• In the present, the Guardians discuss a situation that needs Alpha Lantern intervention with Boodikka. They explain that during the Sinestro Corps War, Boodikka's partner was killed and a replacement ring was sent to her sector of 1414. They continue by telling her that ninety-six hours ago, a bunch of starships went missing along with their crew. Boodikka's new partner was sent to investigate. Boodikka's new partner has not reported back even though the ring reports there had been no injury inflicted on the Lantern and that the ring has been regularly recharged on schedule. Also the number of spacecraft had doubled since the Guardians lost contact with the Lantern. The Guardians tell Boodikka to investigate and take the appropriate measures and once that has been done, Boodikka will have earned her second power ring. Boodikka complies and leaves for her mission. The Guardians feel they have made the right decision in creating the Alpha Lanterns as they never need to rest, recharge or show remorse for what the Guardians ask them to do.

• Boodikka tracks the signatures of the missing ships to the source of the disappearances, which is her home planet of Bellatrix. Boodikka continues to track the location of the power ring, which brings her to a cave. Boodikka thinks about another memory of her just after joining the Green Lantern Corps. Her Bellatrix Bomber sisters feel betrayed that Boodikka would abandon their group for the Green Lanterns. Boodikka explains how she wanted more than to just bring in criminals for money and how, by being a Green Lantern, she could do even more good on many more worlds. Boodika's sister is extremely sad to see her leave and the rest of the Bellatrix Bombers tell her not to come back and that if she does, they would blow her out of the sky. Boodikka is seen high in space looking at the planet she is leaving behind. She looks at her new ring and then leaves.

• Boodikka continues to search for the power ring signature when an animal attacks her. Boodikka recognizes the animal as her sister's pet. The animal attacks Boodikka again, but Boodikka just traps the animal in an emerald cage. We hear someone say that they are detecting a Manhunter signature and Boodikka is shot with something powerful enough to take her down. The unknown group realizes that it's not a Manhunter as the weapon would have destroyed the Manhunter. The mystery Green Lantern asks her ring to identify what they attacked to which the ring replies it is Alpha-Lantern Boodikka. Boodikka looks up to see her former Bellatrix Bombers looking up at her asking if she remembered that they told her to stay off their planet. Even more shocking is the person that Green Lantern Boodikka was seeking out is none other than her blood sister Zale.

Some of the best and brightest of the Corps — including Kyle Rayner, Soranik Natu, Ion and Guy Gardner — are sent on an urgent mission to locate and destroy missing Sinestro Corps Rings that remain from the Sinestro Corps War. But Mongul has a different idea on what to do with the Rings…

• Mongul is standing upon a field of flowers called Mercy. He was told of their power from his father and he could sense it's effects as he's thinking about the plans he has for them. He collects as many as he can into a giant backpack and then asks his yellow power ring where the nearest Sinestro Corps member is. When the ring locates the information, Mongul tells the ring to take him there.

• We see various members of the Green Lantern Corps in the middle of their duty, or relaxation or other thing, Vath Sarn is teaming up with Adam Strange. Iolande is in the middle of her royal duties. Sorak Natu is in the middle of vacation. Stel is in the process of putting himself back together againâ€”literally. Isamot Kol was also on break, Sodam Yat was taking in some yellow solar energy and Guy Gardner was snoozing when they all got a call to go to the Citadel.

• On the planet Sedas in a Penal Institute of Mental Health, Duel Eknham is killing two doctors. His two different persons that make up the being of Duel Eknham are debating on how they should have killed the two doctors when a yellow power ring moves towards them saying he/they have the ability to instill great fear and he becomes the newest member of the Sinestro Corps. The two personalities begin to argue over which hand should have the yellow power ring when Mongul barges. Mongul tells the newly appointed Sinestro Corps member of how he obtained all of his yellow rings and he has a choice: Follow Mongul or dieâ€”not a hard choice, huh?

• Back at the Citadel, Sodam Yat, Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner, Arisia, Isamot, Kol, Sorak Natu, and the rest of the Green Lanterns called to the Citadel are wondering why they were all called together. Soon enough, the Guardians tell them that they are to go to the Vega System to retrieve yellow power rings that have entered that system. Sodam Yat wonders why they are allowed to go to the Vega System as he thought that that area was forbidden. The Guardians tell the Green Lanterns that they will be allowed into the system, but once there, they would have to use their own skills to track the rings. Sodam Yat wonders why they just don't take out manufacturing center that was making the rings, but the Guardians told Sodam Yat that the Guardians will tell them when that time will come. With a few last words from Kyle, the group is off.

• The Green Lanterns enter sector 2828, the Vega System. Once they two, the group split up into teams of two. A creature is attacking a bunch of innocents when Guy and Kyle barge in on his fun. At the same time, Sodam Yat and Arisia are checking things out in another area. Sodam wants Arisia's opinion on how she thinks he is doing since becoming ION. Arisia asks Sodam why he wants to know and he's about to tell her he had heard a rumor that she was the first choice for ION when they both see the handiwork of Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner.

• Sodam and Arisia investigate the area a bit more to discover 1,012 dead beings. Upon analyzing the dead bodies, they discover that there is more than one Sinestro Corp member in the area when their rings detect a warning. Elsewhere, Iolande and Sorak Natu are searching for rings when they get a call from Kyle and Guy checking on the progress of the other Lanterns. Sorak and Iolande say they had no luck. Isamot and Vath are the only others that found a Sinestro Corps member and as that is being relayed, Sorak and Iolande see the results of Isamot and Vath's work. However, nobody has heard from Sodam Yat or Arisia.

• When they meet up, they begin their search for Arisia and Sodam Yat. Kyle signals to Salaak that the Green Lantern group is holding off their primary mission in order to find the two missing Lanterns. Salaak explains that they must remain dedicated to their primary mission. Kyle tells Salaak that he will not attend anyone else's funerals or memorial services and nobody is going to be left behind. The group finds a trail and they all go off in search of their missing comrades.

• Elsewhere, we see Mongul with many rings on as he uses the power to burn a hole deep inside the planet. With him is Arisia and Sodam Yat who are infected with the Mercy flower.

As their quest to track down Sinestro Corps rings continues, the Green Lantern Corps discover to their horror that fellow Lanterns Sodam and Arisia have been captured by Mongul and subjected to the dreaded Black Mercy, causing their deadliest fears to be dragged into the light.

⇖ The remaining group of Green Lantern—including Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner, Bzzd, Stel and Sorak Natu—follow the signatures of their missing comrades. The search leads the Green Lanterns to a planet that is full of dead body parts. The Lanterns continue onward into the planet's atmosphere as they try to avoid hitting anymore body parts than they can possibly help.

⇖ When the Lanterns finally enter the planet, they discover plants that Kyle and Guy recognize as Black Mercy, and when you deal with Black Mercy, Mongul must be nearby.

⇖ Isamot says he's heard a bit on Mongul but nothing of the plant called Black Mercy. Guy and Kyle use their rings to give the rest of the Lanterns a refresher course on Mongul. With the lesson over, there is a bit of discussion about the the definition of justice and when it's appropriate to take a life. The conversation is interrupted by Kyle and Guy who tell the rest of the Lanterns that they need to deal with Mongul and rescue their fellow Lanterns

⇖ Meanwhile, we see Kilowog and Salaak observing the Guardians construct more and more sciencells for yellow power rings. Salaak says that he will be happy when each and every ring is finally under their control to which Kilowog disagrees. He doesn't like having the rings here and if it was up to him, he would have them destroyed, but he's not allowed to finish his sentence as Salaak tells him it's not up to him so there is no need to continue the conversation. Kilowog leaves and tells Salaak to give Voz his regards.

⇖ Inside the sciencell, Voz is listening to one of the Sinestro Corps members as she tells him that her cell will not hold them for long and threatens Vox's family and friends from his sector of 571. Vox replies that he's free to do whatever he wants and she is not and that is the way it will remain forever. Vox than sees that Salaak has brought Vox severed arms to guard and he tells Vox that these severed parts with the rings must be guarded as closely as the terrorists within these cells must be. We see Sinestro biting off skin on his finger as he uses his blood to design something on his cell window. We see other Corps members doing the same thing as Sinestro, we see that they are all making the symbol for the Red Lantern Corps.

⇖ Elsewhere, we see what the Black Mercy is doing to both Sodam Yat and Arisia. With Sodam, he fears that he will be forgotten. He pleads that he has too much left to prove and too much left to lose. He sees death in the form of a rainbow. He pleads that he doesn't want to be the last. Arisia on the other hand is waiting for someone to save her. She finally has her life back and she doesn't want to die. She remembers dying and how it sucked and she doesn't want to be pulled back into the darkness.

⇖ Mongul taunts the Green Lanterns under his control. He tells them how fear is control and when you have someone's deepest fears at their fingertips, they become mere puppets on a string. His underling, Duel Eknham, says he hates this place. His other head says that they could tear apart these two perfectly killable Green Lanterns. The two heads talk about how great it would be to dismember them until Mongul stops them. Mongul then uses the power of the yellow ring to reverse engineer the Black Mercy seeds and shoots them into space to instill great fear.

⇖ The group of Lanterns are hacking the Black Mercy plants when Bzzd informs the other Lanterns that he sees several yellow lights heading into deep space. The Lanterns follow the yellow light to find a bunch of really big Black Mercy plants with Arisia and Sodam Yat inside. When Sorak Natu tries to get their status, her ring tells her that they are slowly being digested by the plant. The Lanterns begin to destroy the plants which they eventually do. Sorak Natu begins to try and work on getting the Black Mercy plants off Sodam Yat and Arisia when it looks like the Lanterns seem to fall out of the frying pan and into the fire. Green Lantern Corps, meet Mother Mercy.

The epic battle against Mongul begins here, as the true origin of the Black Mercy is revealed! The Green Lantern Corps find itself pitted not only against Mongul to save Sodam and Arisia, but an entire planet made of Black Mercys that seem to be under the control of a quite possibly darker and more disturbing force. This creature the Corps will come to fear is known simply as Mother Mercy — and it has no plans of showing any now or ever.

In month two of TRINITY, Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman — alongside their Justice League teammates — cross paths with the mysterious Konvikt and learn more about their fated connection within the DC Universe! This month’s co-features focus on Hawkman, Gangbuster, John Stewart and the intriguing new psychic known as Tarot!

Tarot is freaking out. First she was attacked by "super-villains." Next, every time she tries doing a reading with her cards, they keep showing different trinities. And they keep changing to show Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.

In the Justice League watchtower, Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman have a talk. Batman is tending to Diana's burn. To his surprise, the burn changed shape. Before it was "serpentine" shape and now it looks sort of like an "h." Batman comments that they both appeared mystical. Wonder Woman says that's what she wants to talk about. The wolf-creature that burned her called them a "trinity." She also mentions the reality-warp dreams they shared. They start going over the different combinations that could make them a trinity.

Tarot realizes she can't reject the cards. She tries to give in to get a full reading. She begins to see what the three are at their core. She begins to see how they are connected when the wall caves in. Jose (in his Gangbuster attire) is fighting off some big furry creatures. He tells her to run but one grabs her and runs off.

Superman scans out in space where the pocket solar system that appeared over Metropolis was. He detects the same energy residue that appeared over Gotham and Washington also. Returning to the Hall of Justice, they confirm that it is similar to creation energies and decide to check on the Cosmic Egg where Krona is still trapped.

Batman and Vixen are going through the JLA database to figure out who the wolf-creature that attacked Wonder Woman was. Batman can't get over the feeling that he's seen it somewhere before. Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl try to figure out what the symbol means on Diana's back. It turns out that the symbol has changed a second time. Hawkgirl seems to think that they look Egyptian.

Just then, Hawkman and Gangbuster arrive (via teleporter). Gangbuster tells them about Tarot being kidnapped by "forces beyond any simple street gang" and Hawkman mentions all the museum artifacts being stolen around the world. It seems they are being taken by Gotham-based criminals (which ticks off Batman).

Suddenly Batman interrupts Hawkman and places an emergency call to Nightwing. Nightwing tells him that just last week the Calendar Man tried robbing the Cloisters Museum and just now Mr. Freeze took some evidence that were in police custody, a jeweled sword, a mystical chalice and three amulets. Batman tells him to call Robin, Oracle, the Titans and the Outsiders. He wants to know who is behind all of this. Then Batman tells Hawkman to keep working with Gangbuster. He says Oracle will contact him and he will get any assistance he needs from the League or Titans.

Hawkman is not happy with being ordered around by Batman and starts to object. Vixen asks what there's such a priority to find Tarot. Wonder Woman tells her that Batman has just recognized the symbols as she has. Hawkman notices them and says they are ancient Egyptian tarot symbols: Strength, the High Priestess and the World. The Trinity connection is there again.

On Krechin, the largest moon of Itatoq, Despero ponders how to use the power from his just won battle. Morgaine and Enigma appear and Enigma says Despero can become a Lord of Creation if he chooses.

Konvict and Graak are tearing up the place. John Stewart is out. The JLA arrive and soon get their behinds kicked. The arrival of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman could be the answer. Superman stands up to Konvikt. Can he take the punch?

In the back up, a girl going by the name Tarot tries making some extra money reading the cards. After doing a reading for a member of a street gang, he wants her to help them since her reading allowed them to rob a bank without getting caught. She doesn't want anything to do with them. When she tries running away, they chase after her. In an alley way, some dark shapes bloodily take care of the gang members saying, "She is not for you." She is meant for the "three that who are to rise." She has no idea what that means and is not willing to read her own fortune.

"Caped Simioid Thinks So, Hm?" - The Justice League continue to face off against Konvikt, drawing him away from populated areas and into the country. Meanwhile, Batman takes this opportunity to follow his trail back to the craft he arrived in.

Mongul is back! Destroying the JLA Watchtower wasn't enough - now he's more powerful than ever and ready to instill great fear!

The remaining Guardians of the Universe observe both Green Lantern and Sinestro rings looking for new users. The Guardians are observing the yellow power rings to see who the rings will choose so they can attack the wearer sooner.

• Guy Gardner is still using the trusty throwing-the-dart-on-a-board method to figure out where to hang his hat and call home. He keeps hitting one spot more than any other and figures someone is trying to tell him something.

• Meanwhile, Kyle Rayner is channel surfing and every channel seems to have the same theme. Kyle concludes that someone must be trying to tell him something. WOW!! Deja vu!!

• Mongul is looking at his ring all glowy and yellow. He asks the ring about its powers and limitations. The ring says that would take 96 hours (four days). Mongul tells the ring that time does not concern him and to continue.

• Kyle and Guy converse about how good it feels to be back. The two of them are talking about how they are thinking about a change. They decide to meet up and talk about it over Thai.

• The change that Guy and Kyle had been thinking about is leaving Earth and moving to Oa. Both of them feel that a change of scenery would do them good and being Honor Guard and all, it makes sense to be on Oa. Guy and Kyle are even thinking about opening a bar on Oa. At Guy’s old bar, they tell Hal and John. The four of them do a sorta ring high-five before Guy leaves them with a parting gift.

• Guy checks on Tora’s apartment on the Upper East Side. Wanting to give her space, Guy simply leaves a note for her and leaves.

• Mongul basks in the power of his yellow ring. He sees this as a sign that he was destined for something greater: to lead. Mongul takes the lifeless body of the Sinestro Corps solider that he took the ring from and crushes his head before throwing it in the fire he made to destroy the ship the soldier came in. Mongul promises that the blood on his hand will not be the last.

• Guy and Kyle are traveling to Oa talking about the things they are leaving behind for this new opportunity: Kyle’s job offer at a museum and Guy’s potential relationship with Tora. Guy says that distance makes the heart grow fonder, to which Kyle replies it also makes it colder. Guy thinks that Kyle is making a joke; but unfortunately, Kyle is talking from experience.

• Guy and Kyle make their sales pitch to Salaak about opening a bar on Oa, but Salaak seems less than enthusiastic. After some convincing and some compromises, it seems that Salaak is okay with it. When Kyle tells Salaak that he and Guy want to live on Oa, Salaak bursts out laughing. When Guy asks if they can get Earth cable stations, Salaak tells them both the entertainment value of them being here would be worth it.

• As the Guardians continue their vigil on the yellow power rings, they are a bit concerned when all of the signatures of the rings suddenly disappear. The Guardians decide to mark their last known position and try to plot their possible course for the rings. They summon Salaak to the Star Chamber as they continue to discuss their next course of action.

• Kyle hangs up his painting that his mom made. He’s proud that the painting is hanging on an alien world and that Vincent van Gogh should be jealous. He then looks around at the empty apartment and wonders if there’s an Ikea on Oa.

• Meanwhile, Guy has his bar stuff in his new place, including the gigantic sign, and he’s clearly taking a break after his successful move-in.

• Meanwhile, Mongul has returned to his father’s homeworld and sits on his father’s old throne. He asks the ring how many rings are looking for a new user and it tells him 27. He then asks him where these rings are going and the ring gives him the coordinates. He then goes into a conversation with his dead sister about how fate works. He tells her that fate has shined on him while time and worms continue to eat away at her corpse until every sign of her existence is wiped away forever like she had never been born. Mogul promises that he will continue to carry the banner of his father. He will show the universe the true meaning of legacy and that the universe is awaiting his mercy.

After helping to run off Metallo from S.T.A.R. Labs in Metropolis, Superman learns that before becoming a cyborg, Metallo (as John Corben) was a criminal in Gotham at the time that Bruce's parents were murdered. He flies to Gotham, where he finds Batman investigating a crime scene in the middle of a cemetary. Metallo has been searching for his human remains. When they find him, Metallo shoots Superman with a shard of kryptonite. Superman falls into an open grave, and Batman jumps in after him trying to remove the kryptonite as Metallo buries them alive.

Buried alive by Metallo, Batman uses explosives to blow an opening into the Gotham sewers, shielding himself behind Superman's body. The two make their way through the sewers to the Batcave. Alfred removes the kryptonite bullet, and Bruce learns that Metallo may have been the man who murdered his parents... before Clark gets a chance to tell him. As the two argue, a Boom Tube opens, and an older version of Superman steps out, and tries to murder his younger self. Can the world's finest team stop a raging Man of Steel?Meanwhile the government under President Luthor is attempting to destroy a mass of Kryptonite the size of Australia that is set on a collison course with the Earth. Luthor blames Superman for the rock's trajectory, and offers a one million dollar bounty to anyone who can bring Superman in to face justice.

There's a massive meteor, composed entirely of kryptonite, heading straight for the Earth. President Luthor has publically laid the blame for the meteor on Superman, and offered a massive bounty to anyone who brings him in. As Superman and Batman fly to Washington to confront Luthor, villains crawl out of the woodwork, each looking to bring Superman down for the reward money. But the villains aren't the only ones lining up to bring Superman in.

Superman is sought by President Luthor, and the US Government in relation to a meteor the size of Australia which is on a collision course with the Earth. The reason? The meteor is a piece of Krypton, Superman's birth world. Luthor dispatches a team of heroes to bring in Superman, and Batman if he aids Superman. Fortunately, they receive some aid from surprising sources.They escape to Japan, where they're trying to meet up with a young boy who figures into their plan to deal with the kryptonite meteor. But having dispatched Luthor's heroes, the JSA takes an active hand, sending Captain Marvel and Hawkman to stop Superman and Batman. Hero fights hero, as the meteor flies ever closer to the planet.

When word of Superman and Batman's capture is announced, their closest allies execute a carefully orchestrated attack on the White House to learn the fate of their mentors. The only problem is, Lex doesn't actually have them. He begins to interrogate Nightwing, Robin and Huntress while Superboy and Supergirl are trapped in a compressed sphere, being exposed to green kryptonite radiation when Hawkman and Captain Marvel return.

The Justice League continues to wonder where Hal is. In Gotham, Batman has been chosen by the Sinestro Corps due to his ability to instill great fear. A yellow power ring is put on his finger. Using his willpower, Batman is able to reject the ring. It leaves in search of a new representative of sector 2814.

In the Sierra Madres, Amon Sur, son of Abin Sur, has Hal under the gun. Hal's power ring has been drained of its power. He tells Hal how Abin was unaware his mother was pregnant when he left for the Corps. When he died, they were not told until months later. Living in his father's shadow, Amon headed the crime syndicate known as Black Circle and had run-ins with Kyle Rayner. Hal takes Amon to the place where he buried Abin.

As Amon is in grief over not knowing his father and the path his life has taken, Hal begins to taunt him. He claims he is nothing but a coward and not worthy of his father's name. As Amon begins to attack, Amon's associate, Hunger Dog is revealed to be John Stewart. John has been undercover for the last two months in order to find out who had put a price on Hal Jordan.

Hal insists on taking Amon down himself. Just as the fight is about to end, the yellow power ring finds Amon. Now granted with great power to inflict fear upon others, Amon has the power he wished for. As he tries to attack Hal and John, the ring informs him that he is to go for pyschological and physical reconditioning. Amon fights the ring as he believes the ring should obey the wearer. It appears as if he is incinerated by a big yellow explosion.

On the planet Ungara, Hal returns the remains of Abin Sur to his home planet. Hal heads back to Earth. Cowgirl seems to be recovering in the hospital where she reveals she knows Hal is Green Lantern.

At Ferris Air, Carol Ferris is flying in a plane as some investors wait for her to land. Star Sapphire emerges and tells Carol that she no longer has a need for her. Apparantly, her ultimate mate, Hal Jordan, no longer "desires" Carol. Star Sapphire takes Carol away as her plane explodes. She says it is time to spawn.

At Edward's Air Force Base, Hal is enjoying a drink with fellow pilot, Cowgirl. They are discussing her recent discovery that Hal is Green Lantern. As they are bonding, the place explodes as Star Sapphire arrives. She accuses Hal of cheating on her. Cowgirl tries to stand up for a knocked down Hal. He puts a stop to it with his power ring joking that there's enough of him to go around. Hal sends her out of there. Cowgirl asks him who she is and Hal tells her an ex-girlfriend. He's not sure what she wants since Carol is married.

Hal wants to try to get the telepathic alien crystal out of her but Sapphire doesn't make it easy. She can detect that Hal has feelings for another, Cowgirl. The energy leaves Carol as Hal catches her and attaches itself to Cowgirl. As Carol comes to, she tells Hal she now knows what the Star Sapphire is. She says they come from Sector 1416. She also mentions the Zamarons and Sinestro.

Amon Sur arrives on the planet Qward. This is the center of the antimatter universe and home of the Sinestro Corps. He goes to the archive tower. He knows that in return for the power that has been given to him, it is his duty to spread fear throughout his sector. Lyssa Drak, the keeper of the Book of Parallax, tells him the story of a former Green Lantern named Reemuz and how he and 85% of the inhabited planets in his sector had been infected and killed by a microscopic entity known as Despotellis.

"The Mystery of Star Sapphire" continues as Hal Jordan learns the truth behind the obsessive alien parasite known as the Star Sapphire. But if her thirst for him is quenched, what does that mean for the fate of Earth? Plus, the backup feature "Tales of the Sinestro Corps."

Hal gets ready to take on the Zamarons. He asks Carol to pry the Star Sapphire off of Cowgirl. The Zamarons tell Hal that the two women have a higher purpose. They ask him if he loves them. If he does and they accept the Star Sapphire, they will become like them and never grow old. Hal replies with the saying, "If you love something, let it go..."

Carol manages to get the Star Sapphire off of Cowgirl. With Hal gone, both of them need to put some clothes on. They take some from the hotel room they're in. Cowgirl is more concerned with if her hat is anywhere around.

The Zamarons pin down Hal. They tell him he must choose his "mate" or they will crush his skull. The Star Sapphire is waiting for his choice in order to attempt to bond with it. Suddenly Hal chooses the Zamaron. He takes "her" in his arms and plants a big kiss on her. The Star Sapphire, believing that he hasn't chosen either Carol or Cowgirl, attaches to the Zamaron.

The combination of the Star Sapphire on the Zamaron seems to be too much. The other Zamarons grab her and try to subdue her. They say they must remove it because the Star Sapphire is trying to attached itself to her life web. In order to remove it, they will need to take her home to ensure her safety. They promise to return to discuss the Star Sapphire and the upcoming war.

At Hal's suggestion, he, Cowgirl, and Carol go to Pancho's (on Edwards Air Force Base) for a drink. Things are a little awkward. Hal and Cowgirl both order beers while Carol tries to order a dirty martini. Cowgirl gets her hat back (it got left behind at the bar) and Carol decides to leave. Cowgirl wonders if it was something she said. Hal says not to worry, she's moved on. Cowgirl asks if he has. In response, he asks her out for Saturday night.

On Zamaron, the Star Sapphire is safely removed. They see that perhaps Hal was right that it is too much and takes over its host. They decide to follow the Guardians lead and change the Sapphire into a power ring.

The next day, Hal heads over to Ferris Air. He runs into Tom and says he's there to congratulate him. Tom knows he's really there to check on Carol. Hal wants to make sure she's okay after everything that just happened. Tom tells Hal that she's fine, she's up flying in a plane. He tells Hal that she's had a tough year dealing with the business and worrying about Hal when he was captured by the Russians. She has been happier since her divorce. This catches Hal off guard.

Rescued from the renegade Amazons, Green Arrow and Black Canary turn to solving new mysteries: Who was behind the kidnapping at their wedding, and how does that connect with what happened to GA's son, Connor Hawke?!

A Russian criminal with a blonde, who is apparently his accountant, talk about a botched deal when the criminals they were talking with pulls out guns and tells them to go to the back. The Russian criminal and blonde escape and jump out the window when Speedy comes driving by in a van. The both of them jump in and it turns out to be Ollie and Dinah, undercover.

At their base of operations Ollie is talking with Roy about the lead, yet Ollie is not happy with what Roy has and throws a chair.

At Dawn, Speedy, Ollie and Dinah are in a van. With Speedy sleeping, Dinah talks about Ollie's anger. The both of them realise that whoever's doing this wants to pull Ollie into a trap, especially with his anger. All of a sudden, a cloaked ship attacks and Speedy puts her foot on the accelerator. With Dinah's motorcycle in the back of the van, Ollie rides out with Dinah on the passenger's seat. Dinah tells Ollie that she'll drive and asks Ollie if he's going to make himself useful. Ollie pulls out his bow and arrow, and shoots the aircraft that attacked them. However, it turns out to be an arrow that releases glue on impact, so he grabs a few other arrows and shoots for the aircraft. The arrows stick and then he presses a button which causes the arrows to explode, causing the aircraft to crash. Ollie and Dinah investigate the downed ship and find aliens in the seats.

Team Arrow follows the trail of those responsible for shooting Connor Hawke to London and finds out who was behind that heinous act.

Ollie, Dinah and Speedy stare at disbelief at the aliens on the floor. They ask Hal Jordon in help with extraterrestrial aliens. He reveals that they are just humans wearing alien costumes. Speedy discovers that the men in the alien costumes are from New Jersey. Back in a hotel room, the both of them are tied up and the three are ready to interrogate them. However, they take a different approach, and introduce to them a man wearing underwear with a clown face, and very old woman wearing furry white underwear with bunny ears and a sheep with a biker's hat on its head. The two men, scared of the possibilities, confess that it was "some English guy".

At London, Speedy sits at a bar and spots a man with a long beard, a woman with glasses and a gangster of some sort wearing a red cap. Speedy then meets a stranger who offers her a drink but she refuses. The gangster in a red cap then says "Dodger" and the strange man reveals a charge weapon, and throws it towards him which creates an explosion. Speedy then grabs him and throws him to the ground, with Dinah and Ollie in the bar as well. Dodger then throws another explosive towards Dinah and Ollie. Ollie grabs an arrow of his, and Dodger throws another explosive which causes Ollie to jump out of the way. Dinah then goes up behind Dodger with a sword to his throat. Dodger explains himself and says that paying him a good amount of money to him will give him them the information they need.

On the rooftop of the bar, Ollie asks Dodger if it's an actual alien space craft. Dodger replies, by saying he doesn't know, and he suggested that they wear alien costumes for payback, as the Americans were calling him "tea bag". Dinah then asks who had had it five weeks ago, and Dodger mentions "cabal of killers" which Ollie reacts to. Dinah then recognises that Dodger is talking about the League of Assassins. Dodger says confirms that, and asks them if they've ever heard of them. Ollie replies, by saying that they're employed by Ra's Al Ghul.

The issue begins with a flashback, as an introduction to their beginning relationship. Green Arrow asks if she’s Black Canary, and Black Canary wonders if he’s Green Arrow. Some flirting happens between them, with Black Canary saying, “If your idea of a pickup line is complimenting my mother, your game needs work.” Green Arrow replies that that wasn’t a pickup line, and he really is a fan of Black Canary’s mother. He also adds that his game doesn’t need work. Black Canary thinks differently, as she says, “I think you just sat on some chewing gum.” She adds that she “only noticed because I was checking out your ass even more than you were checking out mine.”

It cuts back to present time, where some mercenaries are running from trouble, and Black Canary flies in, kicking a mercenary. She fights the mercenaries single handily. She beats them all, when one of the down mercenary gives her attitude. She turns around and beats him, to the point of near death. Green Arrow, who is currently taken by Connor Hawke, flies in, and tells her to stop. He also comments that he’s been seeing that a lot lately. Black Canary walks off and says, “Well I guess everyone’s lucky you’re here to referee.

At Connor’s apartment, he has a conversation with Speedy and comments on Black Canary’s behaviour. He tells her of how she almost beat a man to death and says, “She’s… she’s not coping very well,” and Speedy replies, “Oh my God… You really think so, Dr. Phil?”

Elsewhere with Black Canary, she stares at Oliver Queen’s dead body in a glass coffin and remembers the night in which he almost killed her with a knife. In self defence, she killed him with one of this own arrows and stabbed him in the neck. It cuts to a montage, where many members of the Justice League of America console her. Hal Jordon says that they should perhaps bury the body as it’s been a month already. Black Canary says that it’s not him, but Hal thinks she is in denial. She insists that it’s not him, but Hal thinks differently. She continues to explain that it isn’t him. The man that attempted to kill her wasn’t him, but Hal keeps telling her that she is in denial. He tells her in frustration how he would want him alive too and too. Hal points Black Canary to his ring, and says that the ring doesn’t lie. Batman cuts in, and says that it can be deceived. Black Canary asks if he believes her, and in agreement, he says that all this makes very little sense.

He continues to explain how it’s strange, because if someone has gotten Green Arrow to murder her during the night, it’s a good plan but it’s been a month and no one come to finish the job. He also continues to explain that if someone wanted Green Arrow dead, that wouldn’t make sense too, because if someone did kill him, they would want to gloat about it and no one has done so. He also wasn’t in anything that would was on about that would make him a target either.

At the Batcave, Dr. Mid-Nite and Batman are preparing to do an autopsy on Green Arrow and tells Black Canary that she should probably go site somewhere else, because it’s going to be ugly. Black Canary disagrees, unless they’re going to chop his body up and run it through a processor. Dr. Mid-Nite explains that’s exactly what they’re going to do. Black Canary, shocked, says she’s going to sit by the car. As they perform the autopsy, they scan the body and find nothing unusual. Dr. Mid-Nite then sees something strange. He compares this autopsy from the one done before and explains that the cells from the autopsy done now has less tissue from his upper thigh, which means it’s no Oliver Queen’s DNA, and the cells are still reactive. Batman asks what that means; does it mean the cells are still alive? Dr. Mid-Nite explains that they’re dead, but they’ll become active once again if activated. He sticks a contraption with a needle on the end, and Oliver dissipates into someone else: Everyman. Black Canary adds that he’s a shapeshifter, and that they have to find Oliver if he’s still alive. Batman says that they need to find out who has him first before they can begin their search. Batman questions Black Canary, asking her if anyone strange has approached her since Oliver’s “death”. Black Canary thinks, and thinks of the Amazons.

Black Canary and Speedy head to Amazon Island, where a job offer from Athena seems to be the perfect opportunity for Dinah to focus some of her frustrations over what's happened to Green Arrow.

In Themyscira, Athena talks about the beauty of Paradise Island. It is ruled by aggression and warriors, but also majesty and by honour. It’s a land bathed in its own glorified beauty, but then there are days like this: where Oliver Queen, also known as Green Arrow runs from prison. The Amazons chasing him argue amongst each other. “I thought you drugged him!” once says, and the other replying, “I did!! There’s enough in him to sedate a small army!” While arguing amongst each other, Oliver pulls himself up on a tree, does a flip around the branch and kicks the Amazons in the back. He runs off towards the cliffs of the island and makes a jump for it. One of the Amazons then grabs him with a rope and he hangs off the cliff while they drag him back up.

Elsewhere on the island, Black Canary and Speedy arrive at the island with a boat, and one Amazon, Alcinoe comments on Speedy being “unclean” making a reference to her contracting HIV. Speedy then fights back with a rant on their island and lack of men. Alcinoe then replies with, “Unclean of mind and body.” Suddenly, Black Canary punches Alcinoe and the Amazons behind them ready their swords. Athena stops them and Alcinoe gets back up, having a go at Black Canary with her sword. Black Canary fights back and states that she is here by royal invitation and that is awards her with the rank of emissary and privileges of that title. If a member of her family is slighted in a public forum, she’s within her right to enact admonition by combat. Athena comments on her knowledge of the Amazons’ ways and Black Canary replies that lunch with Diana teaches her a lot of things. Black Canary then asks why they invited her onto the island and Athena replies that they are in need of some new warriors. Athena continues to explain that the titles of new warriors are “Furies”.

In a prison box made of brick is Oliver guarded by four Amazons. One complains of why the other Amazons are late, and the other replies that they are on the other side of the island, and that they are coming here by foot. The Amazon that stated other Amazons were late gets hit by a poisoned dart, and the three other get hit. But one misses and then a fury of the poisoned darts fly through and eventually hit her. Out of the bushes comes Connor Hawke and Oliver tells him to get him out of here.

Back on the island with Black Canary, Athena explains how they want outsiders explaining that teaching them the ways of Amazon combat would help them on the terrain of modern combat. Athena encourages her to join saying that very few outsiders possess the skills they want. Athena then pushes it some more, saying that they know that she could live among them and that the death of Oliver could give her a new change of scene. Black Canary says she needs to think about it, and Athena gives her one hour. Black Canary and Speedy wonder how Oliver and Connor are going, and Speedy thinks that it will take a lot of more than one hour to get off the island.

The other side of the island, Oliver asks if everyone thought he was dead, and Connor replies a “Yes”. Connor also says that it was worse this time and Oliver sits down in despair. Oliver asks if Black Canary is okay, and Connor replies that she’ll be better once she sees you again. They make their escape through the jungle, and Oliver asks where everyone else is. Connor is confused by this and asks what he means by this, and Oliver asks about the JLA or the JSA. Connor replies that it would’ve been better using stealth, and also took into consideration of relationship of Wonder Woman and Hippolyta, her mother. Oliver comments on the Amazons’ ability to make the Israeli army look like Civil War re-enactors. Connor replies that he’s just assuming that they will get captured, and reminds him that the plan requires them to get out before they notice anything. They walk out into the open and then several spears fall around them, encaging them. Now the both of them are caught, and Oliver comments on them going to need more clothes at some point.

Black Canary and Green Arrow conclude their mission on Paradise Island and are stunned to find out what's really been going on there — and just who's been behind the kidnapping of their missing friend!

The issue opens with Black Canary accepting Athena’s opportunity to train what they call The Furies. Black Canary gives her thanks, but before she can finish her sentence, she is interrupted with something called “fortitude”. Black Canary is confused. Athena replies that whoever she is training, the trainees must know that their trainer is not teaching them, but they know that they can wield the art of war. Athena calls it the display of fortitude. In an arena, Black Canary is fighting off various Amazons. Speedy, Athena and other Amazons are watching her fight and Speedy asks how long this is going to take until she displays her “fortitude”. Athena replies that it will take as many as it takes. It’s something that is there.

Elsewhere on Paradise Island, Connor and Oliver are surrounded by Amazons from their previous escape and they both whisper to each other the meaning of “hero” and Oliver tells Connor to do something with his bag of tricks. With that, Connor pulls out a smoke bomb and throws it to the ground, releasing a cloud of smoke which tears the eyes and chokes the Amazons. The both of them make the way to the cliff of the island and make a jump for it, with several spears following them.

Back at the arena, Black Canary is still fighting for her “fortitude”. Speedy excuses herself and tells Athena she has to make her way to the bathroom. However, Athena refuses her to leave and an Amazon brings out a chamber pot. Speedy begrudgingly says that she’ll pass.

After Connor and Oliver have jumped off the cliff, they make their way onto the boat. Connor presses a button which releases flares into the air and Speedy alarms Black Canary of it. However, Black Canary says that they’re not leaving just yet, and makes a run towards Athena, putting a sword to her throat and tells them to back off or else she’ll die. Black Canary demands some answers on what’s going on. Through a doorway in the arena, Black Canary asks why Athena had gotten a doppelganger to kill her. Athena replies that it was all for her. She explains that she would’ve never thought of joining the Amazons while Oliver lived. Black Canary asks why she didn’t just kill him. Athena replies that the people she worked with forced her to keep him alive. Everyman was to live as Oliver for a month and then kill him and planned to kill Oliver when Black Canary was there. That way, they knew that she would’ve turned her back on men. Black Canary then asks why Everyman didn’t stick to the plan. Athena reveals that when he was put in the position of consummating the marriage, it would be a problem because “Everyman was suffereing from the inability to perform… sexually.” Everyman decided that Black Canary would’ve seen through his ruse, if he had denied on consummating the marriage. So Everyman panicked and attempted to kill Black Canary, however, Black Canary ended up killing Everyman instead. Athena continues to explain but is cut short when Black Canary and Speedy run off. Desaad then comes out and asks Athena if she will ever learn the whole truth. Athena asks about which part: that they wanted Black Canary training on the island, or that Everyman was supposed to pose as Green Arrow to infiltrate, or that she’s actually Granny Goodness? Granny Goodness adds that they’ll all learn the truth soon. Desaad asks that they’re not really finished with the Arrow Family, and Granny Goodness replies that they aren’t just yet…

On the shores of Paradise Island, Black Canary and Oliver embrace. Speedy comments on them being quiet nauseating. Connor then accelerates the boat at a blitzing speed and with more of Black Canary and Oliver’s dirty talk, they scare Speedy. Oliver thanks them for saving him and says that he’s glad to be with his family once again, happy and safe. A crack then comes out of the sky and hits Connor right in the heart.

The second story arc of this hit new series begins with a tragedy for Oliver Queen!

With Connor Hawke getting shot in the heart, Black Canary attempts to get on the radio to call for some emergency help, but she can’t seem to find a frequency. It’s a total frenzy with everyone screaming at each other. Oliver thinks up an idea and calls out for Clark Kent, aka Superman. Clark hears and races over the sea and grabs Oliver, heading for the hospital in Miami.

At the hospital, the hospital director is trying to explain to Wonder Woman that they’re not equipped for this situation. She explains that if there were ever a security issue, they wouldn’t be prepared for it. Wonder Woman walks back in to reassure the hospital director when they’re in awe with Oliver in a frenzy over Connor. The other members of the Justice League are trying to calm him down when Hal flies in and explains to Oliver what the situation is. But Oliver, too concerned for his son urges Hal to help Connor with all his power, when Hal shouts back at Oliver, saying that he will help all he can. Black Canary calms Oliver down when Black Lightning asks Wonder Woman to secure the area, due to them shouting and using their first names. Wonder Woman takes the back exit out and Batman flies in and tells her that the area is secure. Wonder Woman urges Batman to come inside when Batman refuses, saying that he would be no help here.

Superman walks back in the room and explains to Oliver that he was scanning the outer orbit, and found nothing. The rest of the team walks out in search of what actually hit Connor. With that, Black Canary, Red Arrow, Speedy and Connor himself stays behind. Connor blames himself for not being a father to Connor. Hal walks out and explains that Connor is healed the bullet had a toxin, which entered his bloodstream and made its way to his brain. Oliver runs into the room which Connor’s in and sees his son, in a coma and braindead.

With a recent tragedy hanging over their heads, Green Arrow and Black Canary realize that they may not have actually gotten married. But will they try again or drift apart in the wake of all that's happened to them? Featuring art by Amanda Conner (GREEN ARROW/BLACK CANARY WEDDING SPECIAL)!

Black Canary and Red Arrow are going over and over the footage to try to find out who shot Connor. Roy asks why Batman isn't looking into it if he's the one that crated the program they're using to look at the spectrum analysis. She says he's looking into other things. Doctor Mid-Nite comes in and tells Dinah he's finished looking over Connor. He says he's in perfect physical health but his mind is a complete blank. Mid-Nite asks how Ollie's doing. Dinah says he hasn't left Connor's side. Also that today is Connor's birthday.

Ollie sits by Connor's side. He's been reading to him but says that he promised Dinah he'd talk to him about when he met Connor's mother. Ollie was a big time womanizing jerk. Hanging out with three women outside a club, a woman walks up to him and tells hims she's Sandra Hawke. Ollie likes what he sees but says he's already busy but she's welcome to join them, if she's into that. Sandra tells him that they already slept together. Ollie says he wishes he could remember that and Sandra cuts him off. She says she's pregnant. After a moment of shock, Ollie says "Paternit Test." He says she should get rid of it but if she does have it, he wants a paternity test. As he storms off, she says she doesn't want money or anything but he doesn't understand why she would be coming to him then.

Eight months later, Sandra has given birth. Ollie visits her in the hospital and sees Connor for the first time. When she comments he looks different, he says he is. He had some "boat trouble" and is a new man. He tells her he's going to set up a bank account and she can take as much from it as she wants. She insists again that it was never about money. Ollie tells her to take it and that he can't be a father. He's doing more important things. He also tells her not to tell Connor about him and leaves.

Years later, Ollie asks Batman to help him find his son. He figures since Batman has a "son," he'd help. Batman says he doesn't have a son. Ollie tells him that he's raising him and basically is his father but Batman says he's more than a son. He fights by his side. Ollie wouldn't understand that.

Young Connor has been getting expelled from school after school. When Sandra is called in to his final school before being sent off to juvenile detention, she says he has a problem with his temper and he was bullied. The principal says it's more than that since he seriously injured three boys. Sandra decides to tell Connor about his father. Connor thinks it's cool. She takes him to the monastery that Ollie went to in the hopes that he will be able to control his anger and impulses. Batman later gives this information to Ollie.

Ollie feels bad about how he kept pushing Connor away. He says he is going to make things right now. Dinah walks in and tells him that he has been making it right. Ollie tells her he wants to take care of Connor. He's going to give up being Green Arrow to do it. He says it's because of that that Connor was injured. He wants to be his father. Dinah smiles and tells him to marry her. Ollie says they are but she reminds him that it wasn't him at the ceremony. Ollie agrees but insists on a small ceremony this time.

Wonder Woman performs the ceremony while Superman watches from above and Batman from behind. After they are married, Dinah suggest they go on a honeymoon since he was "dead" after the last time they tried getting married. Ollie says he wants to stay close by for now. She understands.

To their shock, they find one of Connor's nurses, dead at the bottom of the stairs. Ollie runs up, busts through the door and finds the room empty except for the other nurse, also dead. With a look of extreme anger, he tells Dinah to get his "damn bow."

Back on Clustral, Guy is till left to do the clean up by himself. He's struggling as the secondary tremors are pulling the mudballs apart again and need repair. Tanakata Z and Quond are nowhere to be found. Guy is able to reach both of them, who are now back at their sector house, on their communicators. They willingly admit that they are taking 5 and will not be coming to assist him in the clean up. Guy tells them that after he finishes up there he's going to head straight for their house and drag them to Oa for a court martial.

The new partners, Soranik and Iolande are on their way to a new assignment. Reports from unaligned mining planet Nibelos of Incursion by the Children of the White Lobe, state that there has been a massive suicide explosion and needs investigating.

In sector 3889, Green Man and Stel are there investigating why an unknown vessel has been blown to bits. At first glance it appears to have been from yellow energy and is assumed to be from the "rogue Lantern Sinestro". As they approach the vessel Stel warns that any organic lifeforms that near the ship may trigger a simultaneous explosion due to the fluctuating radiation levels. The Green Man throws Stel closer to the ship and the ship go BOOM!

Now on the surface of Nibelos Soranik and Iolande find themselves in the middle of a battle between the Children of the White Lobe and the locals. The Children threaten if the Green Lanterns interfere that they will begin executing each and every local since their weapons are of no use against the Lanterns themselves. Isolating all of the Children in a ball of green power, Soranik begins to question the locals as to what the Children are after. Apparently they are after the local raw materials and more specifically the supply of Tellurium. Tellurium is a metal that has the unique property of being able to transmute mental energy into heat. The locals notify them that there is a large mine full of Tellurium just on the other side of the planet. Isolande and Soranik head for that mine in expectation of finding more of the Children of the White Lobe.

Kilowog heads for Mogo hoping to get a little relaxation and to clear his mind. Mogo gives him advice and provides a safe place for him to vent. In the grove, Kolowog sees a vision of his people calling him to return to his homeworld for good and leaving behind the Corps. One of them in particular states that he hates the Guardians for taking him from them and challenges Kilowog to destroy the Guardians and to no longer be a puppet for their cause.

On Rann, Vath visits a bar to get some R&R himself. He is approached by a female who has apparently taken interest in him. He invites her to leave and take a walk with him outside the bar. This infuriates a local bar patron that all the army guys come and steal all of their women. As they leave Vath is approached by Isamot. This enrages Vath's female companion because her entire family was "wiped out by the lizards". Both Isamot and Vath leave that planet behind and head back for Oa.

Salaak is speaking with another Lantern [name] about Abin Sur's demise after hearing the prophecy of Quill. They discuss this prophecy and what implications it may have in their current situation. He is told to immediately report any of these happenings from the prophecy directly to the Guardians and to keep the prophecy to himself.

Returning from the cleanup on Clustral, Guy heads straight for sector house 268 Proximal. Once inside Guy is ready to bust some heads but finds something completely unexpected...

Pursued by his fellow Lanterns, Guy Gardner seeks refuge on Mogo, only to be confronted by his oldest fear. And on Oa, Lanterns clash as death stalks the Corps.

Lanterns Vath Sarn and Isamot Kol find Guy Gardner standing over two dead bloody Lanterns. Guy tells them that one is still alive. When they ask him who did this to them, he says, "Guy Gardner. He did it, He killed us." Then passes away.

On Nibelos, Lanterns Natu and Iolande are on a mission when Iolande recieves a message that her father is dying. Natu gives her permission to go to him.

Sarn, Kol, and Gardner try to figure out what happened with the dead Lanterns. Their ring logs have been wiped. The sector house entry and exit logs show that no one has arrived or left between them and Gardner. Sarn and Kol ask Gardner to go with them to Oa so they can straighten everything out. They also ask for his ring. Guy says they can have it but will have to take it from him. He takes off and puts the facility under emergency lockdown, locking Sarn and Kol inside. They have no choice but to contact Oa.

On Betrassus, Iolande goes to her father's bedside. He tells her that with her brothers dead, she must give up the Lanterns to be be Queen and rule the planet. She says she cannot turn her back on her duties to the Corp. Natu arrives and asks if she can join the doctor and have a look at him.

Guy goes to Mogo. Quond, one of the dead Lanterns, had gone to Mogo before he was killed. He asks Mogo if there was anything off about him. Mogo doesn't really offer too much help there but tells Guy that there is someone else he can talk to. Guy comes face to face with his father? His father seems largley out of proportion. He begins getting pushed around by his drunk father and asks Mogo to stop what he's doing.

Back on Betrassus, Natu comes out saying Iolande's father passed. There was nothing they could do. Iolande is outraged saying Natu let her father die. The planet will now go into chaos with him dead. Natu is tired of being blamed for anything and leaves. She tells Iolande that this is her problem.

On Oa, the Lanterns prepare to hunt down Guy. Kilowog says they need to track him down and execute him. There is no mercy for a Lantern that would murder another a brother Lantern. It is decided that Sarn and Kol will handle the case as it is theirs. Kilowog is not happy with sending two rookies to handle it. They will be assisted with Mogo's sector partner Lantern. A Lantern the size of an insect.

Bzzt, now joining the hunt for Guy Gardner on Mogo begins to search in the "therapy area". They didn't have to search far because Guy found them first. They attempted to take him into custody when Guy states that there's something happening to Mogo. Something strange, normally when you head to the therapy section Mogo helps to ease your pain but this time it was quite the opposite. Mogo appears to enrage your deepest fears in an attempt to brainwash every Lantern that enters. Isamot confirms this when he speaks of Green Man emmerging from the forrest acting strange.

Guy claims that there are insects in the therapy area which may have been corrupting those who enter. Bzzt, being an insect himself, takes notice to this statement as many of the insects in this sector are his close relatives. Therefore, Bzzt wants to further investigate this claim himself and heads for the therapy area. Once he arrives he notices that they are not insects but fungal spores surrounding the grove.

Anticipating that something was wrong before the trio arrived, Guy called ahead for a doctor (Soranik) to come and check out the specimens. Soranik confirms that the spores are from out of this world and concludes that there must be a mother spore somewhere deeper in the forrest. Mogo is sick :( All five of the lanterns head off into the forrest to seek out this mother spore. Soranik states that anyone that comes in direct contact with the spore will hallucinate and if ingested will have nightmares forever. Each puts up their shield and begins the search.

Soranik contacts Oa to get the last known entrants into Mogo. The results are in: Tanakata Z, Green Man, and Kilowog! Kilowog appears and threatens to enact justice by killing Guy for the murder of Tanakata Z and Quord. Isamot and Vath vow to hold Kilowog back while Guy and Soranik try to take out the mother spore in hopes of stopping all of this hallucinating. Soranik claims if she can examine someone infected with the spores she can get a good idea how to cure this illness. Bzzt offers to sting Kilowog enought to incapacitate him so Soranik can examine him. Guy gives the go ahead.

They all corner and subdue Kilowog while Bzzt innoculates him. With Kilowog now knocked out Soranik begins her examination. Sure enough Soranik finds an infection and it's surrounding his brain, Just as Lantern Natu begins to work on him, he vomits a rather large yellow sentient being. Kilowog begins to regain conciousness.

Now the concern turns toward Mogo. They fear if the infection continues to bore for his core he will be beyond cure. Mogo warns the Lanterns to leave his surface and NOW! Mogo has altered his orbit to become in the way of a rather large incoming asteroid. If the asteroid strikes his surface it is his hope that it will burn the infection out of his person. The asteroid strikes the surface.

Back on Oa, Guy, Green Man, and Kilowog are cleared of all wrong doing due to the various effects of the viral infection.

Soranik returns to Mogo to ensure that the infection has been sterilized. It is confirmed, it is all gone. Bzzt vows to stick behind to help protect Mogo until he is properly healed.

The attack on the Green Lantern Corps in GREEN LANTERN #21 continues on multiple fronts, as Soranik finds a surprise waiting for her at home and Mogo is besieged by a new enemy.

Starts off on Oa and Kilowog is giving orders to the new recruits. One recruit, in particular, is giving Kilowog a hard time. Iolande doesn't think that she's fit for a data entry duty since she's a princess and the "top recruit". She believes that she is more fit for a spot on the front lines fighting with the other Lanterns. Hearing the commotion, Salaak arrives to diffuse the situation and reiterates Kilowog's order.

On Ranx, Guy and Thos continue their kidnapping investigation on the surface. They spot what they believe to be the getaway vehicle and begin a closer search. Getting closer to the space ship they notice that a group of locals are dismantling the ship part by part. As they swoop in they scatter and the two Lanters are able to snatch a few before they can get away. They begin to question them. As they're questioning them Ranx manifests itself in a rock golem and demands that they, the Lanters, leave now.

In the Koragur hospital Soranik stands trial for performing a surgery by herself and without the approved tools--she used her power ring to assist her in the surgery. Soranik, admits to using her ring to assist her in the surgery to the tribunal. Because she readily admits to using her ring she is banned from practicing medicine on Koragur for life--even though the patient lived and is expected to make a full and speedy recovery. Soranik storms out of the hospital and leaves Koragur.

Back on Ranx, Guy and Thos do a little "house cleaning" to clean up the rock golem and are back on to their investigation. Thos beleives that he spots a pair of suspicious individuals and go in for a closer look. Getting a bright idea, Guy decides to follow power wires all the way down in hopes of getting to Ranx's brain.

Returning to Thanagar, Vath and Isamot return to the surface to assess the damage of the fleet attack. Vath isn't greeted with much of a warm welcome and Isamot immediately looks for Qalyra, his supposed "mate". Isamot is directed towards a hut and rushes in to see her when he gets a shocking discovery.

Guy and Thos continue to follow the wires until they reach what appears to be Ranx's brain. They see a bunch of chords connected to a large ball of something. Just before they begin disconnecting these wires Ranx warns them that Lanterns are not allowed to harm a sentient being. Guy's plan to play "good cop, bad cop" winds up paying off and they only have to disconnect a few wires before Ranx gives up the location of the kidnapping suspects. They both rush off to locate them given the location by Ranx. They continue to the location which turns out to be a sewer tunnel. They follow down the tunnels until they come across an adult and a little one chained together. They hail them to hault and untie the little guy. Once they do so they realize that the tables have turned, the little guy actually was the kidnapper and the adult-sized figure was the victim. Once they try and take the real kidnapper into custody he shouts something about a "white lobe" and detonates himself. Due to the shockwave of the blast they get vomitted out of the sewers and into the atmosphere. This is where Guy and Thos part ways, Guy heads back to Oa for a shower and Thos to return the girl to her family.

One of the Dominators has captured and is torturing a prisoner in their homeworld. He is doing this to gain favor with the "castle leaders".

In hyperspace Guy is taking a new recruit, R'amey Holl, under his wing. They are traveling to Corona Seven on an assignment. They are to search out Von Daggle on an ice planet in the far reaches of space. When they arrive their rings both say that there are no life forms on this planet and Guy questions R'amey what should be their next course of action. She suggests that they contact Oa for further instruction. Guy, on the other hand, likes to get his hands dirty. Therefore, he proceeds to enter the planet's atmosphere and heads for the surface to find out for himself. She follows and their instincts lead down a large canyon toward the center of the planet.

As they begin their decent they start to notice signs of life and civilization. Smoke, buildings, fire, and huts. It looks like a small village and they continue to follow their instincts. Sooner or later, they come across Von Daggle and he wants nothing to do with the Lanters, Corps, or the Guardians. He orders them to leave and never return.

The Dominators are using the prisoners to test out a new development. They are trying to create an army of vicious killers. They almost have it, but they are concerned about one aspect--these killers that they've designed are too vicious! They need to develop a remote "kill switch" so they can stop these things from attacking themselves.

Back on Corona Seven, Guy and R'amey are stripped of their rings and dumped on the freezing cold to die. R'amey collapses from frostbite and Guy is struggling to stay alive long enough to find shelter. Guy has to slap R'amey around a little to wake her up enough for her to fly both of them back into the canyon toward that village. They crash land in the middle of it and Guy goes off to find Daggle by himself ordering R'amey to get some rest.

Daggle, because he's a shape-shifter, plays a trick on Guy and they get into an argument. Gives them their rings back and tells them to check the message from the Guardians.

The message is intended for Daggle and calls him back to action and to serve the Corps once again after a long time away. It also requests him to team up with Guy and R'amey to head to the Dominator's homeworld to retrieve an artifact from them to save them from themselves.

They meet back up with Daggle and the first thing he tells them to do is remove their uniforms and power rings. They will not be needing them on their journey. Daggle has a black stone for each of them to swallow which gives them power enough for five earth days. Off they go to the Dominator's homeworld

On the homeworld of the Dominators, having freshly putting the scientist out of commission for inventing their weapon of war--the Khund the Caste Leaders Dominators discuss their next move. While sitting around the table for their discussions, The Dominator comes in an reminds them how important his work is. Somehow he's escaped the Caste Leaders entrapment and recooperated.

On their way to their undercover mission on the Dominator homeworld, Guy and R'amey take the black pill and change outfits. They wait in space while Daggle heads to the surface to scout things out. While he's gone, Guy continues to complain that he was never let in on this special operations divison of the Corps and doubts of its existence. He believes that someone would have spilt the beans on it long ago if it were legit. After a while Daggle comes back to meet them and report of the findings. He states that he found a Khund, one that wasn't a normal Khund, and that he had mind reading ability.

Daggle assigns Guy to take care of the Khund and for R'amey to come with him to locate and capture the comet fragment. They head for the surface.

Guy approaches the Khund stealthily and readies for his attack. Just before he strikes the Khund calls him by name. He had been inside Guy's mind the entire time. He begins to probe Guy's mind and it is like "a thousand blades inside your head." Guy struggles to maintain the willpower to overcome the pain and situation. Guy is able to muster enough willpower to break free of his temporary set back and strike down the Khund just as The Dominator arrives. The Dominator is able to incapacitate Guy and now heads for the other two.

Daggle and R'amey are using their willpower--as a ring--to track down the comet fragment. They locate the radioactive signature and are heading in the direction to recover it. They are stopped en route by The Dominator, who got their location from Guy's mind. The Dominator's apostle--the crazed khund--is able to incapacitate Daggle and The Dominator punches through R'amey and retrieves the black stone from her stomach. Immediately thereafter The Dominator injests the black rock and gains the power of the ring for himself...

3 hours later, Guy is still incapacitated and trying to recuperate. R'amey's spirit leaves her body and heads to help save Guy. She lifts him up and heads for space. R'amey can sense Daggle on Earth so they decide to head there. With only one ring remaining between them--at full power--it would take them about a day and a half to get there. So withiout any other alternatives they decide to travel there in an unconventional way--through a blackhole.

On Earth, Darkseid is visited by The Dominator. Darkseid warns Dominator not to get in his way. The Dominator suggests Darkseid to join forces with him and his apostle. Just as he says this, he realizes that his apostle is not with him.

Daggle steps into the mix and notifys The Dominator that he has removed his apostle from existence whichi ensues a fight. The Dominator shoots a blast toward Daggle and in order to dodge it, he transfroms into a bacterium.

Emmerging out of the black hole, R'amey directs Guy to head for the surface to meet up with Daggle. Guy comes into join the battle between Daggle and The Dominator. Without every any question, the Lanterns are victorious and take The Dominator into custody. Daggle drops Guy off at Earth and gives him a few days off while the black power wears off. Just before Daggle heads off to deliver The Dominator to justice, he tells Guy that he has a visitor. R'amey wanted to wish him a goodbye and gives him a hug. Just after this happens Daggle wipes Guy's memory so nothing can be recalled...

On Oa, Guy Gardner is getting a hard time from Salaak for leaving his ring behind on his shore leave. He is sentenced to another year-long ban of vacation. Guy leaves upset and heads for his duties as the graduation day approaches for the new recruits.

In a Korugarian alley, Soranik--dressed in disguise--witnesses a knife fight and one of them gets injured. Pulling out her power lantern and calling for them to stop they scurry thinking the Green Lanterns are evil. The one that is wounded doesn't get very far and Soranik begins to use her power ring and medical expertise to heal the wounded stranger. While she's healing him others come to witness this event and are shocked at seeing a Green Lantern using his/her powers for good. It is still instilled in their population that Green Lanterns are evil and corrupt people who use their powers only for evil. Seeing Soranik heal one of their own, a crowd forms and comes to her for healing.

Guy is sent on a mission to Clustral to help a sector which is in need of help. An anomolous matter discharge from a white dwarf star has disrupted the orbit environment. It must be stabilized before the localized atmosphere is compromized. Guy learns, upon entering the system, that there are already two other Lanterns on the scene--Tanakata Z and Quond. Guy immediately seeks out their location.

Heading to Mogo, Isamot and Vath speak about Isamot's recent actions on his homeworld and his ex-girlfriend. While arriving on the surface of Mogo, Isamot comes across Green Man and is shocked to see another Lantern on the surface. I guess Isamot has never seen Green Man before and meets his acquaintance.

Back on Korugar, the lines are long for Soranik's medical treatment. Soranik's ring is running out of power and she out of energy. Soranik calls it quits for the day at the reluctance of the people of Korugar. The police, wondering what all the commotion is, show up and break up the party. They attempt to forcably stop Soranik from helping the bumbs. Just as the shooting begins Soanik is joined by Kilowog and Iolande. Knowing that this is what the Korugarians fear most--an invasion by the Green Lanterns--she tells Kilowog and Iolande to go easy on them. Soranik wants to demonstrate that Lanters protect not injure.

Still patching things up in Clustral, Tanakata Z is trying to toughen up Quond by having him defy Guy's orders. Tanakata thinks that he or Quond shouldn't have to follow orders of anyone, especialy Guy's. After Guy straightens them up a little, Tanakata convinces Quond to leave the planet and Guy to finish up by himself.

In Oa, Kilowog, Iolande, and Soranik are discussing the political climate of Korugar and how the Lanterns can change their opinion of the Green Lanters and the Green Lantern Corps. Soranik thinks that Iolande is just spouting off at the mouth and doesn't want to take words from a "rookie" so her and Iolande get in a shouting match. Kilowog is there to break it up and assigns those two as new partners.

Responding to a distress signal, Soranik and Myrrt head for Betrassus. Soranik heads to save people from a fire and Myrrt begins crowd control. After putting up a protective sheild, one of the Betrassuians shoots the shield and winds up killing himself. This is greatly disturbing to Soranik and she leaves the planet in the middle of the mission. Shortly thereafter, all people are saved/rescued and they are greeted by the Prince of Betrassus, Ragnar.

Back on Oa, Guy's shore leave time is up and he isn't getting it. Furious he heads for the Guardians...he is stopped abruptly by Salaak. Salaak says that the Guardians see nobody but himself and that he will relay the message to them in due course. Guy isn't happy about this resolution so he threatens to burst into the Guardian's chambers with or without Salaak's help. Kilowog hears the commotion and steps in to diffuse the situation.

In Sector 2682, Vath is having difficulty rescuing a space ship from inside a minefield. He calls for back up but Kol is nowhere to be found. Just in the nick of time he shows up and assists Vath in destroying the mines. Isamot pushes Vath's buttons a little and gets punched in the face. He gives him a freebie then leaves Vath to clean up the remaining mines.

On Oa, Kilowog hears that Soranik has deserted Myrrt in the middle of her mission and asks Guy to investigate. They come across Natu on Oa and confront her about deserting her mission. Natu states that she's going to resign and believes her ring is cursed.

Myrrt is lead to talk to the King of Betrassus. He, the King, compliments him on his swift action in helping to save what's left of his people. Ragnar then takes Myrrt to his trophy room and professes his admiration for the Green Lantern Corps. Ragnar also states that he would give anything up to become a member of the Corps.

Soranik still believes that her ring is "cursed" . Kilowog and Guy convince her that it's just rookie fever and that it happens to everyone. Just at that moment, Soranik recieves another distress call from Myrrt on Betrassus asking for immediate back up--they're under attack again. Putting her ring back on her finger she rushes off to assist. Kilowog instructs Guy to head off with her and provide some assistance even though he was due for shore time.

Strange and high-profile murders are cropping up around a dozen large star systems. Police heroes, undefeated gladiators, and freedom fighters--just to name a few--were slain without apparent motive. Running probabilities on the trends Ragnar and Stentar warrior princes of Betrassus have scored high on a likely target of the next attempted murder.

Continuing on from the last issue, Guy and Soranik are on their way back to Betrassus to give Myrrt a hand in keeping back the opposing forces and saving the life of Ragnar.

Currently on that planet, Iolande is joining her brothers fight back the warriors now unable to protect her people any further by herself.

Upon arrival in Betrassus, Guy and Soranik learn of Myrrt's death and immediately join the fight.

On Mogo, Vath sits and contemplates his prior life and recalls memories both good and bad. Mogo tries to comfort him and offers advice. Vath knows he has an anger problem and appears to want to do something about it. He leaves Mogo.

Back on Betrassus they all gather round their fallen to mourn their deaths. Guy notices that one of those yellow mechs has a leaky reactor and plans on following its trail to find out how they made landfall. Guy begins to head out when Ragnar offers his local expertise and terrain knowledge. Guy reluctantly accepts and they're off to track down their adversary.

While Guy and Ragnar are gone Soranik begins to perform a non-obtrusive autopsy on Myrrt's body. It appears that he perished because something damaged the willpower part of Myrrt's brain. As she's finishing up performing the autopsy, she is approached by Iolande and she states that they both have something in common. They both do not want to rest until their partner or brother's death has been avenged. They do not want them to have died in vain. Soranik, sends Myrrt's body back to Oa by the power of his ring and sets off into the town to begin the search for the culprit.

Guy and Ragnar continue on the trail of the leaky reactor and come across a sentient being packing up his things. As he's approached by Guy he attempts to flee, only the guily flee. He is captured by Guy and he begins his interrogation when Rangar offs his head before any valuable information is given. This infuriates Guy as their only lead now is dead.

Continuing her quest to find how Myrrt was drugged, Soranik begins to hit the streets of the nearby town. She begins by questioning the locals as to where she can get a strong "potion". She is pointed in the direction of a tavern with the Skull Mortar. She enters and begins to question the alchemist. As soon as he finds out she's with the Green Lantern Corps he tries to make his escape. She calls for Guy's help, he comes immediately

On his way back to Oa, Vath returns to his new home looking to get some rest and relaxation. As soon as he sits down there is a distress signal from his sector. He immediately gets up and begins to make his way back out to his sector.

Back on Betrassus, the funeral for Stentar is well underway. Ragnar is asked if he can put aside his aspirations to become a Green Lantern and one day rule as King of Betrassus. This funeral gathering gets interrupted with more bad news, Natu has fallen...Guy didn't arrive fast enough.

After just discovering Natu's body, Guy begins his investigation as to her cause of death. Guy takes Soranik's body back to Oa and meanwhile Ragnar begins wondering who will be her replacement.

In Guy's absence Ragnar gets his wish and is visited by a Green Power Ring. Ragnar ecstatically accepts and is transferred to Oa to begin his training as a Lantern.

On Staphis, Vath is trying to hold the planet together to assist their local's evacuation. Their planet has become unstable and he has desperately been calling for Isamot's assistance. Until now, he's been having to hold things together himself. Other Lanterns hear his call and respond to help the locals with their evacuation. Isamot is sill M.I.A. Vath leaves the planet in the other Lantern's hands and leaves to search for Isamot.

Rangar has just arrived on Oa and is greeted cherily from Guy. Guy takes him immediately to the prison block and explains to him that this is where the freighter captain would reside if he hadn't have killed him before the interrogation was complete. Ragnar states that the guy was obviously guilty and that his ships logs place him everyplace there was one of those mysterious murders. Then Guy points out that they've also captured someone else, the alchemist who's responsible for Solanik's death. He didn't escape after all.

The alchemist confesses to everyting and tells of Ragnar's involvement in everything. Ragnar states that the alchemist is lying and that he only knows of Ragnar by what's on the news. Guy then informs him that it's impossible for him to be lying--given his current condition--he was dosed with one of his own truth potions.

Enter Soranik stage left, yes she survived--it was a setup! She confronts Ragnar with the facts. She knows now that Ragnar drugged Myrrt to instill fear in him so he would become vulnerable enough to kill. Then she uncovers Ragnar's master plan, He wanted to become a Lantern so bad he lured planned his brother's death by sabotaging his sword, he drugged Myrrt to take his place and thought if he were the only viable candidate left in the sector that he would be the natural choice. Solanik then arrests him and starts to take him to his cell.

Salaak interrupts them and orders his release. He has diplomatic immunity due to his royal status in his homeworld. This outrages both Guy and especially Soranik.

The funeral proceedings are now underway for Myrrt. They give him a honored funeral and send his body off to it's final resting place.

After the funeral Guy inquires about his "beach time" and gets put off again by Salaak. Kilowog tells Guy to go and chill and let him take care of the details.

Salaak sends Solanik to take Ragnar back to his homeworld and face his punishment as she is still the Lantern of that sector. He also gives her Myrrt's ring and tells her to find a suitable replacement for it. During Ragnar's trial, Soranik makes her choice for the next Lantern of that sector--Iolande his sister. He is sentenced to death and it is carried out.

Guy is sitting on the beach in Restoria and entertaining the ladies when a ship crash lands just over the ridge. Guy decides that the locals should take care of this one because he has fought so long and hard to get this well deserved vacation.

Luckily he came to the decision to not help because the pilot of the crashing ship is his good 'ol friend Bolphunga the Unrelenting.

On C'Ythonis, Soranik Natu is visiting Myrrt's family to give them the bad news. His family is not taking kindly to the news--as suspected--however, they're also not taking kindly to Green Lantern in general. They kick Soranik out and state that they never want to hear from them again. Soranik leaves and heads back for Oa.

Back on Restoria, Guy about to retire to his room with the lady companions is greeted with a smile from Bolphunga. A fight ensues and one of the girls--which is now revealed to be an android--goes down. Guy takes a sunlight machine and turns it full power on Bolphunga knocking him into a body of water.

Vath is still on Thanagar speaking with Isamot about getting back into business. Isamot is on his home planet all twitterpaited with another Thanagaranian. Soon as the locals find out that Vath is a Rannian they get upset and demand that he leaves their homeworld due to the current war. Just about this time both Vath and Isamot recieve word that a large fleet of vessels are close in range to Thanagar. These are Citadel ships and are loyal to the Rannians. Believing that Vath brought them to Thanagar, this enrages all of the locals.

On Restoria, Guy Gardner is still being pursued by Bolphunga and right on his tail. Guy heads back for the hotel and needs to retrieve it out of the safe. Just as he is getting it out of the safe, Bolphugna comes crashing through the bay window of the hotel. Still not able to get access to his ring, Guy has to do some fancy footwork to dupe Bolphunga to go up the elevator without Guy. It apears that the manager can't remember the code to the safe where Guy's ring is being kept.

Vath and Isamot are fighting back the onslaught of incoming ships on Thanagar. Vath urges Isamot to follow him spaceside to stop the attack at it's source. Confirmed by Vath's ring, the ships are a Citadel fleet from the Vega system. Vath hails the lead ship and orders it to cease fire or face the consequences. Torn between the loyalty to his race or the Green Lantern Corp, Isamot has to make a difficult decision.

Guy Gardner is helped by an unlikely savior in his battle against the bounty hunter Bolphunga. Meanwhile, in deep space, Lanterns pursue Thanagar's attackers and Mogo gives comfort. But all is not as it seems...

Still in a full-scale battle, Bolphunga and Guy are dukin' it out in the hotel Lobby. While Bolphunga is incapacitated temporarily, Guy finds out that someone else has had access to the safe. Luckily, the culprit was dumb enough to visit the scene of the crime again--Guy gives chase.

On Thanagar, Vath is still trying to stop a fleet of Citadel ships from doing a large amount of damage. Isamot is still faced with his difficult decision between his race and duty to the Corps. Just before Vath could not hold back any longer, Isamot shows up and saves the day. They push the fleet out of the system and out of harms way. Both the Lanterns begin to chase, are they going to be springing a trap?

Guy, still in chase, comes across old friends who lend a hand in the apprehension of the fugutive. In the process of interrogation, Bolphunga arrives and insists on getting revenge. The fugutive offers Guy's power ring to Bolphunga for assistance in his escape. Just in the nick of time three other Lanters come to the rescue. Guy wasn't answering his ring and so they came to investigate. Of course Bolphunga was no match for the three new arrivals and Guy was able to get his ring back. Salakk sends Guy on a new assignment, cancels Guy's shore leave, and sticks behind to mop up what's left.

On Mogo, Soranik reflects on her abiliites as a Lantern and seeks counsil. She sees an assortment of past acquaintences that she's had (i.e. past patients that passed away and Myrrt). Myrrt thanks her for visiting his family and for leaving his power lantern behind.

Coming out of hyperspace, Guy and Isamot are just behind the fleet. Soon as they emmerge they realize that they're in the Vega system. Because the Vega system is off limits to the Lanterns they're forced to vacate immediately or face a court martial.

On their way out of that sector they're hailed by another fellow Lantern requesting assistance. Thos would like to get their help with a local problem on a planet in sector 73. Ranx has a bit of a kidnapping problem which Guy is reluctant to lend a hand. One more thing, Ranx--the city itself--hates the Green Lantern Corps. Not the inhabitants in Ranx, but the actual sentient city hates the Corps.
